Help with sorcerer's appraisal quest

It seems I ran into the issue that Myrrdin refuses to teach me Maelstrom because I already learned Meteoron from Trysha. Is there anything I can do to still learn it?

Did you already turn the five books in to Trysha? If so then you are locked out of Maelstrom because you need to forgery the five books before turning to Trysha to give them to Myrrdin.

No, I'm in new game plus and I actually haven't done the Trysha quest in this playthrough at all, but because I have the Meteoron spell, Myrrdin still confronts me and doesn't teach me the spell. That's why I'm asking for help. Forgeries are not the issue. It's the fact he won't teach me because I had something to do with 'his daughter'.

get all 5 tomes, forge them give him the fakes then give the real ones to the girl trysha if you've already given him some then I think you'll have to do NG+ to get them again or if you can revert your save

That doesn't work my guy. Read the comment literally 2 steps above yours. He gives you a choice to tell him who taught you Meteoron and no matter what choice you make he refuses to give you the spell

try throwing him off a cliff and wakestoning him. it worked to fix the other bugs where he wouldn't interact with you.

also try only giving him 3 forgeries. that seemed to also work

Also have you tried doing something with Trisha's ring? It certainly have some purpose considering it deosn't give you any buffs, maybe if you'll wear it something will change?
Edit: I just researched it and apparantly if you wear the ring Trisha gave you after comleting her quest and talk to Myrddin he will forgive you and teach you the spell.
I've yet to complete the story for the first time, so I haven't tried it myself, but maybe you'll have some luck, please tell if it will work

Go to talk to him with the Tisha's ring in the backpack, it will complete the quest and he will think on giving you the spell item, increase the appreceation with some gifts and you will get the spell

If you speak to him while wearing the Turqoise ring (which you get for completing Trysha's quest) then he will chill and let you do his quest. I am not sure if you have to be wearing it the first time you talk to him or not, though.

You only need to give them 3 books each too. There are 6 books to collect (2 copies of Death Knell or whatever it's called). So you don't need any forgeries.
