Er...Medusa...petrified herself..? (Spoilers)

So obviously Medusa are in the game since you fight one in the tutorial. Well, I went and found the one that spawns in a cave, and after a bit she did her petrification gaze attack. Two of my Pawns, a Fighter and my main pawn Mage(She's Straightforward so she's always in the middle of combat with me lmao), were with me circling around at close range while the other Mage Pawn was providing support, and...suddenly the Medusa turns to stone and I get an achievement for petrifying a Medusa???

All I can think is either she was trying to look at the three of us who were running around by her tail and managed to somehow petrify herself instead, or the Fighter perfect parried her petrification at her...? I was pretty sure that by their lore a Gorgon can't petrify itself lmao. Itsuno's vision also includes giving Medusa a hilarious weakness to its own ability I guess.

It's funny because I was looking into it to see if anyone else had this happen, and all the guides for getting the "Petrify a Medusa" achievement say that you have to behead Medusa, drop a Portcrystal near the cave, store the head so it doesn't decay, then wait for her to respawn, get the head out of storage and use a Ferrystone to go petrify her with the head. Meanwhile I just got her to do it herself I guess.

OH! Okay yeah I just checked the Fighter's equipment and she's got "Daughter of the Evening" equipped. "A shield polished to a mirror sheen. Reflects the faces and baleful powers of foes back upon them, that they might know their own horror."

Yup it works, wished there was more eye related things it reflected. Consdiering theres a few bosses with a lot of eyes.

Just a little disappointing because I didn't get any loot out of the statue Though it was really funny to see her freak out and turn into a statue, then fall to pieces when I shot it.

3 support mages. one giving ice boon. I think one has levin.
I dont know why it happened. i was using the medusa bow, but i've used it against medusa many times without this happening.

Yup Medusa head plus daughter shield...
Daughter shield has huge knockdown numbers enables fighter to set monsters for 1 shots everywhere.

do you get loot when you petrify medusa ?

Problem with petrify is that they dont drop loot. Same as eaten by brine

Yep. I was pretty sad when I realized I didn't get a chance to even try cutting her head off or get any of her drops because she got petrified XD

you can rest for 7 days and she will respawn.
