How to place portcrystals?

I was googling around about fast traveling and portcrystals, and this one guide is saying

"Portcrystal #3 – Automatic reward from Main Quest: Feast of Deception
When you finish up the last main quest in Vernworth from Captain Brant, he will send you to Bakbattahl. **He automatically gives you a Portcrystal for this journey, which *you should place in Bakbattahl* once you arrive there.**"

You can "place" portcrystals? I'm confused

Just use it in the menu in an area without a roof over it.

There are location specific portcrystals that you can find and activate to be able to port to using a ferrystone and then you have portable portcrystals that you pick up and put into your inventory in which then when you use it you'll place it on the ground where you stand which allows you to port to it with a ferrystone. You can place and pick up your portable portcrystals as much as you want and can have multiple placed in the world.

The Port Crystal is basically you can place it anywhere on the Map and use a Ferrystone to fast travel.
Usually used on locations where there is no Port Crystals or Ox Cart like Village/Towns/Checkpoints hell you can even place it outside Dungeons or in open fields.
Its reuseable as you can pick it up again.
