Content file locked please help i put so much of my time into this game!
my game froze on a cut scene late in the game and now steam says my game is content file locked. i have 120 hours in this game and i was excited to finish it.

the last time i was content file locked it was because i have 2 PCs and i tried transferring the game files to the other pc i think capcoms internal servers locked me out of the game because my save didn't match their internal records. i can only assume crashing then force-quitting caused this how do i fix it?

loving this game feels like a mistake

tried to verify local game cache?
You can search your issue in the forums but someone posted that deleting DD2.exe solved it

That sounds frustrating, especially with so many hours invested in the game. The good news is that there are a few solutions you can try to fix the "content file locked" error without reinstalling the entire game. Here are a few steps to try:

Restart Your PC: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches that might be causing the lock.

Verify Integrity of Game Files: Steam has a built-in tool to check for corrupted game files. This can fix the issue if the crash damaged some game data. Here's how to do it:

Open Steam.
Right-click on the problematic game in your library.
Select "Properties".
Click on the "Local Files" tab.
Click "Verify Integrity of Game Files". Steam will verify the files and fix any inconsistencies.
Clear Download Cache: Corrupted download cache data can also lead to this error. Clearing the cache might resolve the issue. Here's how:

Open Steam.
Click "Steam" in the top left corner and select "Settings".
Go to the "Downloads" tab.
Click on "Clear Download Cache". Confirm the prompt.
Run Steam as Administrator: Sometimes, Steam might need administrative privileges to access certain files. Try running Steam as administrator and see if that helps.

Temporarily Disable Antivirus: Antivirus software can sometimes interfere with Steam downloads and updates. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus and see if the download resumes. Remember to re-enable it after you're done.

Here are some additional things to consider:

Cloud Saves: If Steam Cloud Saves are enabled for the game, your save data might be stored online. You can try reinstalling the game and see if it downloads your save from the cloud.
