I'm going to be playing trickster for first playthrough hopefully the AI is much improved from the first one.
But they did create the trickster class to be able to be a support and it be effective.
From what I've read only the mage can heal. Can these other classes?
It was like that in the first so maybe it will continue but so far we have only seen the mage heal I believe, Magic Archer can revive a dead character which is a type of heal but yes mage is the only one with a heal that we know of.
Funny thing is, one of my strongest play throughs was me being a buffing mage, with A fighter and two warrior pawns hired.
It was boring, but it tore up almost every encounter.
If you can maintain buffs on your party, the damage output goes up tremendously, even more when you are exposing elemental weaknesses.
Trickster looks amazing, not sure how it will turn out but for uniqueness it is one of the best classes I have seen in any game for a very long time.
This made preparation much more important and made items like your standard Greenwarish (a healing herb) more valuable in dangerous encounters. In most games with a dedicated healer class, all that goes out of the window and trivializes most fights where you can just tank and spank. This is not that kind of game. If however, you wanted a healer, you would have a mage enchant you with Holy, which healed you each time you attacked with your weapon, albeit slowly, it allowed you to heal past the grey health without the usage of items.
Minor class spoilers below for Trickster, from what little I know so far:
Trickster is a support class yes, but it has a really interesting method of doing so; at the moment I can only think to call it evasion tanking. You lure monsters, make a clone, run elsewhere, swap to the clone so the monsters have to chase it while your casters pull off their big spells with long channel times. Plus the Trickster has environmental effects such as making false floors or walls only you can see through. With various buffs as well, such as amplifying the damage your party can do, it seems like the go to when it comes to a true support class, but that's all it is. It is not a healer.
just because I'm evil and want to see the world burn. <evil laughter>
It was always a great vocation to have as one of your 3 pawns thanks to long duration buffs and healing, but it was wasted on a player because the AI could never be as aggressive for doing damage as a player, making your party offensive performance way worse than if you went a high damage vocation and a support pawn.
The AI in this game could perform a lot better, and it should because they just made a class that is basically just crowd control and support, even then an AI today in a game like this will never outperform a very good player in the offense
