About the price
A single purchase game is far less profitable than microtransaction in an MMO and even less compared to a gacha game.
The work/profit efficiency is on completely different levels.

Protesting these prices is focusing on the wrong issue.
Should be asking why these prices are rising and looking at the industry.

This is not saying that Capcom hasn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over people before but the increase in price for single purchase games was something that was inevitably going to happen.

Prices arent rising due to raised costs. Its 100% greed and bandwagoning by corporate types.
Stop being walked over by people who couldnt care if you lived or died. Studios are able to make millions in profits and expand exponentially when selling a successful game for £10.
The only reason to have prices as high as this game is either they expect low sales as the game is bad, or they're forced to by out of touch with reality corporate bosses. This game is 100% the latter.

According to data it's more about profits.
https://www.statista.com/topics/868/video-games/#topicOverview has a lot of great data on the subject of increased sales, increased revenues, net profit, monetization via digital content even for single player games with partnerships (see Twitch - Cyberpunk case, for example) and other Industry trends. The data is all there.

Nintendo was the First Company with that kind of prices so of course other companies are jumping on it

We live in a third world country and Capcom is basically charging us American prices. I'm afraid it's too expensive to purchase currently. You lads can have it it I'll catch up when it goes on a deep sale.

They're in for a rude awakening, This is one of the first games i've seen this close to release that has majority the commenters not have the mouse icon next to name.

Nobody outside America can afford these prices without neglecting something, If i buy at full price i have to cut either A) Food Spending or B) Heating usage.

I make decent money (Used to make decent money before covid) but thanks to Justin Trudaeu we get super taxed on everything, Food is up 300%, Rent is up 500% i'm locked in at the moment new people in the same situation will be paying up to 2,350 a month (Not including heat, water & hydro) I'm paying 1,450 and can barely do so because i'm single, It was fine paying that before covid but buying 100$ of groceries before covid compared to now, the same amount is 275$

I will not pay this game above 70$ CAD not happening, Gunna pick it up in a year at 50% or 75%

this is 100% my thought. If they thought the game was successful they could sell it for $50 and it would be ideal for a HUGE portion of the people looking to play a cool game. But with this studio charging $70, this is only going to be looked at by the die hard fans of the first and just have the rest of the people just move on and bypass this game.

I, for one, was interested in this game b/c I've never played the first game but b/c of this price, I will NOT be purchasing this game b/c of overwhelming greed of the developer

and no, it isn't about not having the money -- I have plenty of money to buy the game but I refuse to spend $70 on any game

70 euros is fine. If the amount of enjoyable content is on par with BG3 Or elden ring. I say enjoyable content. That is exluding Starfield for me.

Heck if it has enjoyable content on par with BG3 or elden ring. i would even be fine with 80

The regional pricing is partly due to steam recently changing their policies caused by people exploiting regional pricing to get a discount.
The publishers can still choose their own prices however, but this should still be acknowledged.

Strangely you don't see this kind of sentiment for F2P games that actually make the most money and have the most predatory monetization in the gaming industry.
It's focusing completely on the wrong issue.
Because people spend a massive amount of money on these monetization methods, it's causing other companies to look at that and ask "How do we catch up?".

Game companies and corporations aren't moral entities, they work off of statistics.
Complaining about pricing on games like these and boycotting them only incentives them to pursue the monetization methods that work.
