Fights are too common imo. I'm fighting Cyclops, Ogres, Dragons on the constant. They are no longer epic fights, they are almost tedious to me now, considering how often I run into them. Before I seeked them out, now I sigh.
Sorcerer was why I liked in DD1, it is a shell of its former self for SO many reasons in DD2.
Fighter/Warrior/Thief are all significantly better.
Quests are near the same. I'd say less information, which I'm not a fan because its often not realistic. Like "Hey there was a person who knows about this in the town". Friggn who? Its a town of 20 people, you don't know who it was!? And it was literally about your best friends son who got carried away, and you didn't pay attention to who it was!?
The reduction to 4 skills, instead of the full 6 is a HUGE loss for me. Putting in some core skills certainly helped some classes, but absolutely not all of them.
DD2 is gorgeous.
DD2 has quite a few bugs, performance issues, and a lot of pawn pathing issues.
Pro's in cons for both. If I've never played either, and had to choose. I'd pick DDDA up instead, combat was just more fun. Definitely more to do in DD2, but I just had more fun in DDDA.
I think DD2 and DD1 main story is about equivalent in length, if thats all you do. Not sure why people keep thinking DD1 story was much longer. If you ignore BBI (Which was an expansion), DD1 could be beaten rather quickly.
In regards to enemies. Yes and no. Trash mobs are everyhwere but you often run into unique monsters as well. Aside from goblins, wolves, lizards, bandits I've also met phantasms, skeleton warriors and mages and zombies at night. Ogres, Cyclops, minotaurs, chimera and griffin so far, and I'm still in early game, though past starter zone.
Combat is fun so far. Game doesn't hold your hand. It will tell you where to go but you need to find path there yourself. It's very hands off with you unlike something like skyrim.
Some people seem to have technical issues and Capcom has promised a patch. I played just fine. 1 crash in 12 hours.
Microtransactions exist but they are a waste of money. RC is pretty much meaningles and portkey is a recall placer, you still need ferrystones which you can't buy with mtx to teleport anywhere.
Expect a lot of exploration and walking.
Current state:
Dragon's Dogma II > Dragon's Dogma
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen > Dragon's Dogma II
When the performance issues are fixed:
Dragon's Dogma II >> Dragon's Dogma
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen = Dragon's Dogma II
When performance issues are fixed and it gets more love over time, and a DLC
Dragon's Dogma II >>> Dragon's Dogma & its expansion
Dragon's dogma had only one 'good' 'dungean' and that was BBI.
You arnt going to tell me the quarry passage way was 'good' or the catacombs where 'good'.
They where the most boring dungeans out of that damn game.
Even the short dungean up north that you have to slide water slides with was better then 99% of the 'dugneans' in DD.
