Harpies as thief..

How am I meant to fight harpies as solo thief? They keep flying high above me while building up my sleep thingy, then when they put me to sleep they take 70% of my hp in 2 hits, rinse and repeat, I do not seem to have a way to reach them with my daggers...

You literally have the best aerial move in the game.... Well maybe not yet.

Get the ensnare skill and you can pull the lower level ones down to you. It might take a few pulls for higher level harpies.

use the lasso skill for easy kill or the beyblade jump you can also dash away when they try to put you to sleep

Just for reference, I am talking literally first fight as I left starter camp, I got told to go help a dude who's gonna be struggling with harpies and encountered him going 1v3 with them... I fully resonate with his line "How am I supposed to fight them when I can't reach them", ngl. I managed to hit one once for about 1% of its hp with jump basic attack before it put me to sleep.

i believe you can hire an archer or mage at the first riftstone, or some of those npc's hanging around it. sorry to say, but the thief at that early game, unless you're jumping on those hills and lucky enough to knock them down... you need pawns with range.
