humans
skeletons, functionally they are same as humans but you need to smash their skull after death to stop them from reviving
wolves, more than 1 variety
goblins of varying shapes and sizes
harpies, more than 1 variety
lizard people, more than 1 variety
slimes
these are the main mobs you'll encounter through the whole journey. Then there are the large enemies like cyclops, ogre, griffon, minotaur, manticore, drake
In comparison to Elden Ring the variety is much lower.
Big bads: Cyclops, Ogre, Minotaur, Medusa, Drake, Griffin.
That's just off the top of my head 50+ hours in. I know there are a few more but yeah that's pretty much the enemy "variety" in a nutshell. And no I don't count Cyclops twice because one has armor or the Ogre again because one of them is wearing a yeti costume.
I've used my good time exploring and doing sidequests and have yet to find the Sphinxes or Gorgons, there also might be post-game surprises like Beholders can't say
The time it takes to see a new boss monster along with generally feeling weaker against small mobs might be the biggest issue for some, Goblin variants are pretty much the same with mid-game Saurian enemies being extremely spongy, Cyclopses start to become fodder enemies pretty fast.
Also especially in Battahl there's encounters around every corner, which can make it feels extremely repetitive
and wolf
are you say that's lack of enemy variety?
However, I feel like the devs did a lot with a little. Each fight is interesting and even the reskins of small monsters tend to fight differently and have different weaknesses.
I have accepted there's only five base types of small monsters, I just wish there were a few more big monsters. The fights are fun, but there are definitely only a handful, even if they're high quality.
