PSA: JAIL TIPS!
The jail algorithm in this game is.. old school to say the least. Had the town chasing me down quite a few times because I didn't understand what I had to do to clear my accidental crime.

Most of this was caused from chaos that ensued during the freeing of the magistrate quest. Read the guide on that and tread lightly. There's a back exit to the jail you're supposed to sneak into when it's time to break him out.

Tip #1: To clear your bounty and go free, talk to a passing guard while remaining in the cage and pay them, well, all of your gold.

Tip #2: If you don't want to pay gold and manage to escape, but you're terrified you'll lose all of your gear, exiting the jail grounds automatically gives you all of your gear back.

Tip #3: Do not kill the patrolling jail guard. You need them alive to bribe them for exit. I believe they respawn in.. 7 days? Long time to wait if you can't get out.

Tip #4: There's a spare jail key in the food storage room connected to the break room with the dinner table near the cells.

Tip #5: If you escape without paying the bounty, the entire town will beat your ass when they see you. I had a florist throwing jabs from hell that were taking me down 1/6 health. This will go on for a few days. You need to leave the town, rest at a camp, then port back after days have passed for a hopeful reset.

lol I don't know how people caused any chaos while freeing the magistrate... I just walk through the jail and say hi to the guards as i unlock the door in front front of them..., did you guys not put on the disguise you're gifted when you step in?

And yeah thats some good testing, its alot like the first game but slightly expanded.

I'm not sure if the bribe guard comes back in DD tho lol

I just put the guard armor on and went in and out the front door whenever I wanted. To free the Magistrate I took him out the back way. Never had guard aggro.

yeah same for me I just casually strolled into the jail in full view of all the guards and released the prisoner

I was wearing the courtly attire and mask for all of this, not sure why it would matter though since it would still be sus for some guy to be running around

definitely a janky game

My crimes have never lasted for days before; usually they only last a few minutes. There are times where they have been forgiven literally mid fight with guards.

As for the one time I snuck out of jail, that was all I had to do to be forgiven. Immediately walking back in afer getting my equipment back, the guards were fine with me.
