Drakes jumping in the water?

On two separate occasions, I saw a drake get rekt by brine. The first time I wasn't even fighting it, I just looked over to my right and saw a lot of red while it yelled at me about how I can't escape or whatever.

The second time, battle commenced and I ran away. Escaped successfully, only to hear that same voice line all of a sudden, an exp tally, and everyone leveling up.

This been happening to anyone else? The drakes seem oddly suicidal if you just refuse to fight them and there's water nearby.

Most of the creatures in the game are oddly suicidal. If it weren't for lost loot, it'd be hilarious to me. I've seen almost every creature do it that I can think of. I've seen ogres do their sweet dropkick move into water. Griffons dove directly into it. Drakes did the same. I watched a cyclops fall off a cliff into it with no actual reason to other than bad pathing.

Honestly some of the hardest fights in the game have solved themselves thanks to the slightly shallow body of water kraken or whatever the hell is going on there.

It's true, though. I also had my butt saved earlier today when I jumped off the side of a small hill that had a few ledges I could climb down onto. Hobgoblins ran off it and instakilled themselves on the one-story drop.

I'm thankful for it, but it is hilarious.
