To DD2's settings in-game. You don't need to install the Nvidia App since you can do it manually.
Edit: I crashed again recently but not as often now. I found out it's caused by GameOverlayRenderer64.dll so I renamed the file and no crashes so far. I'll update if I see any changes.
I'm on the latest driver (551.86) and I can see DD2 there with recommendations for optimization.
Haven't turned on RT but all of my crash experience was with it off so it's definitely not that.
Haven't crashed since yesterday but it definitely seems to be an issue with the overlay which is weird since I have mine off but the crash dump says it's the overlay's fault.
I had this strange issue of low wattage of my CPU when playing, it would run fine but not the great framerate out in wilderness, but it gets really bad in cities.
Updating to a proper firmware that's more recent fixed it by enabling my CPU to basically BOOST again! This also mean I had to spend over an hour cleaning up the case and stuff and reconfiguring my RAM and such... But the result was a better performance all around.
Vernworth city is still crap though, but the 99% lows is much better at least with reduced micro stuttering rates.
But as you progress you'll end up finding areas that is super laggy, and there's nothing to be done about those areas until they patch it. Yes they are stuttery even without NPCs there.
I have 32GB and I have my virtual memory set to 1.5x. Sides, I already made a crash dump and checked that the faulting item was the GameOverlayRenderer64.dll.
Good info but probably a very isolated issue depending on the hardware.
In any case I recently (just now) found out that despite me having overlay disabled in the settings, I can still access it with the shortcut. After ticking the box, opening a game and opening the overlay, exiting it and disabling it again , the shortcut doesn't work anymore.
So far I've been stable for the most part and haven't crashed so far. It was definitely the overlay pretending to be disabled when it was not that was causing my crashes.
That's very strange. I have to investigate. Thanks for telling me.
You should be running "automatically manage" unless you're a certified Microsoft engineer and have some specific technical reason to do otherwise. Pretending you know what you're doing is the cause for a lot of Windows issues.
4070Ti should have higher fps than this.
I'm using RTX 3080 playing as 1440P Ultra Setting With RT ON with nor dlss or fsr just raw power still running around 50-60 fps and 25-35 fps in city
For some reason my steam thought it was still on despite it being off so I just checked and unchecked it in the menu and that works for me to delete the file in steam. If you boot steam up again it reinstalls the file so no worries of causing permanent damage.
Thank you for the warning, but the hostility isn't necessary. I'm confident in my proficiency and knowledge to tinker with my own computer, and I didn't mention it as part of the solution for the game since I've had that setting for years without any issues.
Indeed, I have limited my game to 60 fps. Without the limit I can go up to 120 fps even in big towns.
I agree as with my case it was with the overlay crashing. Mods in particular can cause crashes as well so I'd recommend removing any mods that might cause problems like the DLSS 3 mod which has been known to crash for some people.
Some cases might be specific to certain PCs as we do not know the specifics of their setups. With any luck, capcom can address potential bugs like those in the future.
