The explorer's camp equipment

I set up camp and rested until the next morning. But then I was attacked during the night and after repelling the attack, my camp equipment has now disappeared.

It breaks if you get ambushed.

Check the description of the camp in your inventory. Some will not survive an attack and it will say so. For example, the Mundane kit:

A kit that can be used to set up camp at suitable locations. Inexpensive and lightweight, but liable to collapse if attacked by monsters.

Some are sturdier than others. Not sure if the ones that don't mention it will indeed always survive. I have the Grass-Patterned Camping Kit and it is still in one piece.

I got the Elite Camping gear from a quest and it's still in one piece too, got ambushed twice with it so far.

yes it can be destroyed. but you can buy more explorers camping kits at some vendors.
i think only the elite camping kit can never be destroyed by any kind of ambush. not sure about it. there is also a grass/desert colored camping kit which cannot be destroyed by monsters from the corresponding areas.

the biggest advantage of the explorer kit is its low weight which also gets outclassed by the elite kit (1.5 kg lighter)

The elite camping kit can indeed be destroyed, just happened to me.

Good to know it can break. I've been attacked a couple dozen times at night now and my kit still going strong.

Grass/desert kit can also be destroyed in proper area

The Elite Camping Kit can also be destroyed, but it has a much lower chance :)
