Did they really only give us 2 romance options in this game?
I'm just googling this stuff now, and I'm shocked. Only two romance options who both seem like copy and paste versions of each other. Only difference is one's early game and the other is late game? WTF?

Original game you could RO A N Y B O D Y, and it could ether be funny or frustrating who showed up, but you had the choice at least to do such! (And they're both women! Wtf???)

I was hoping to RO Justinn, I thought it'd be a cool storyline, how he's the first one to find you after you crash on a griffon, how he's shocked when the pawns bow to you, wouldn't that have been cool romancing him and he's in awe on how far you go??

Am I the only one who's pretty shocked at this decision?? What's the point of giving us "The Arisen's Bond" If it holds exactly NO meaning because you only get to chose between vanilla and vanilla bean?

Isn't Nadinia romanceable? She's in all the promo material.

There are only two romance questlines.
You can technically "romance" as many characters as you want by raising your affinity with them but literally all you get is them following you and blushing when you're nearby.
(The blush effect looks like hot garbage btw. This affinity system gives you items.)

That sucks. It was awesome in the original game, where the dragon made you choose between sacrificing your lover and facing them in combat, to moving them in to your house and getting a few more lines once the dragon had been killed, and the final cutscene where your pawn first wakes up, and your beloved run to them, first sad, knowing that your pawn isn't you (no I will not explain how things got there, play the game :) ) but then happy to at least see your face one final time.

Now in this game, they really don't take that into account? Geez. Why is it every sequel is always less than the original? It's completely uncalled for! Especially for all the f*ckery they've done with wrapping the NPC routines into the freaking CPU! What was all that for?? If not to make the NPCs more lifelike???

If you've played the first then you'll know you can romance anyone so long as there affinity is high enough.

I really dislike that decision. And why only females? I wonder who made that up-
It's a big game, not everyone needs a fleshed out romance but at least they could have added two male npcs, like Glyndwr and Sven.

I dunno about Sven (given he’s pretty much a child) but otherwise, YES!!! I just didn’t want to be the one to say it!!!!

Why no male love interests?!? Why do we not get quests for them??? Seriously! Justinn could have been the male counterpart to Ulrika! The first person to see us, starts off as mid position in that encampment, he could have rose to become an amazing general, as he wasn’t blinded by the fact that ‘there’s already an arisen on the throne’.

It just feels like we were cheated of a lot of content again!!! I wanted DD2 to finally not have that issue!

Generally, the whole romance seems weird. I saw some video on reddit with a number of women which just slapped each other because of jealousy, half of them looked as they were kids.

I think I just don’t get this jrpg romantic aspect. The game would be better with a deep romance(male & female without limited of gender, so gay can go for the men, women can go for the female if they like) or no romance for all genders.

The pawn isn't us and yet we still can't have pawn romance, I just ain't interested in having a beloved ya know? But if I need to have one, I'd rather have my pawn, who else will stand by my Arisen side unwaveringly?

I just want to romance my main pawn, Freya. She's all the Arisen will ever need!

I think it’s because pawns don’t have really a free will? But really, I would romance instantly my pawn if I could. (If I am wrong here please correct me, I never played the first one)

its really really minor but i think the grab/pickup animation is different on npcs if your affinity is maxed as well so theres that

By default no, but they could have expanded on the bestowal of spirit thing or something similar to BBI from the first game where Daimons pawn gain free will through sheer love and determination to free her Arisen from suffering

Also, for someone with no free will, they sure can be sassy and sarcastic in their dialogue, the amount if times I've been roasted by my pawn for questionable decision makes me die a bit inside sometimes

Oh it’s a damn shame they don’t create such a quest which the main pawn could get a free will and end as romantic NPC :zagcry: .

Who cares its a game we don't need romance in everything... As far as i know Japan is very traditional so thats probably why only females can be romanced.. Its an Asian game..
