Is this game really cpu bound?
I have a 5700x3d & 6700xt , cpu has not gone over 35% utilization, gpu always at 100. In the first "main area" I'm getting 25-30fps but in the, "2nd red and green area", after I'm getting 35-80 fps. I'm just thinking this game is poorly optimized.

Yeah there is something wrong all around. I think the Cpu is not utilised at all like it should be and the GPU is used way too much.

The NPCs in this game are FPS Black Holes.

If they are on your screen, they will sap your FPS.

The game plays fine in the wilderness, but as soon as you approach a town you get the succ.

Not sure what settings you have, but mine is regularly capping at 95-99% GPU in game.

Yes and no. The problem is worse for people with low end cpu's but doesnt disappear for those with high end cpu's and Capcom has stated the issue is cpu related but its clearly not just a horsepower problem.

Every single game on the market with bad/lazy coding is rumored to be "cpu bound". There's no such thing as a "cpu bound" game with proper code. Even games with thousands of highly scripted npc's on the screen - at the same time, can run with very little performance loss.

When you see "cpu bound" - think spaghetti code.

i have a 3080 and mine is hitting about 40% usage, and my i7 11700k is hitting about 95% usage, safe to say its CPU intensive.

The developers have already said each npc uses the CPU to calculate their physics so when there are lots of them it really bottlenecks. Your GPU is not the issue.

Or RTS games those are 100% cpu bound.
