REAL recommended specs ?
As i found out that my pc (r5 3600, rtx 3060ti 2x 8gb ddr4) did not, in fact, run this game, i've been thinking over the weekend that it might be finally time to upgrade.

Now, i've been wondering what the real recommended specs for DD2 would be (theoretically) to target a semi-stable 60fps.
My main questions are mainly around the actual ammount of CPU power the game really needs, and both how much RAM it wants as well as how much RAM frequency would help with performance.

Any hardware enthusiasts out there willing to share their insights on the subject ?

For 1440p 4070 will suffice as a GPU. I'd recommend going for 13900K(or it's equivalent) for CPU. Assuming you are upgrading for this game only because there is no other game on that market that is as CPU hungry as this one. Decent CPU's struggle with this game so you have to go a bit overboard.

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)/Windows 11 (64 bit)
Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / AMD Radeon RX 6700
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Additional Notes: Estimated performance: 2160i/30fps. Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 required to support ray tracing.

I mean I think this says it spot on with the estimated performance and the frame rate might dropping.

You need two things to BRUTE FORCE this game into working.

A High-End GPU with a lot of VRAM.

and a State of the Art/Military Grade CPU. I'm talking, you need a BEAST CPU.

On the CPU side i've been sitting on the fence on going for an i7 14700k or splurging on an i9 (meaning i'd need to wait a bit longer on upgrading my gpu), you'd think that extra power would mean something in game ?

I don't assist people with bad attitudes who don't own the game. Welcome to oblivion.

Who knew my I5-13400F was a beast CPU...

Yes if your target is somewhere between 30-60 FPS with annoying stuttering in CPU intensive areas.

If the price ain't a problem go for an I9. 13700K I think is just as good as 14700K so don't even bother with 14700k.
This game in particular yes, I9 would make a difference. Most other games in the market don't need an I9 or even an I7. A simple 13600K can net you comparable fps to an I7 or an I9 for 99% of the games on the market.

I own the game? Does private profile remove the icon?

"I'm playing the game at 1080p at lowest settings locked to 30FPS. Plays fine for me!"

have a 2060 6gb took a risk brought the game anyway works great low settings and fps holds around 60 so far

Well ♥♥♥♥, too bad that's the one game i can't pass up on, been waiting too long to just give up. Price isn't irrelevent but i can expand my budget by a couple hundred euros. I was planning on holding onto my 3060ti until blackwell cards come out (if they even bother to release gaming gpus).

no stuttering in open world even in combat
lots of stuttering in big cities
msi x570 gaming edge wifi mobo
ryzen 7 3700x
2080 super

You're seriously recommending someone a 13900k as the recommended CPU to play this game lol? That's a $600 CPU! The game is CPU hungry (as are all open world games) but in it's current state it is broken and not optimised for the CPU very well - look at your afterburner logs (if you have it), the CPU usage spread is all over the place soon as you hit a NPC intensive area.

Once a couple of patches have dropped the game should be running well on anything as good as or better than a 12500. DLSS 3 has helped massively with my performance in NPC intensive areas, and I have a 4070 paired with a 12700f.

Do you want to spend the money on a monster PC that will run anything for at least a couple of years. I was just researching myself since my 5900x/3080 that was top of the line a couple years ago is already outdated. A Ryzen 7800X3D/6900XTX is about as monstrous as it gets right now. Don't even bother with 13 series or lower if you are going non AMD. You build any PC with top of the line parts and it will be outdated in a year or two. Don't set yourself back by starting with something a generation old.
