Only 4 skills is kinda annoying.
Why did this go from 6 skills to 4 in the dd2. Esp since it shouldnt be even hard layout wise to implement. just move sheathe weapon to the circle button and get rid of dash action as you can dash using l3 already. Then just put another skill set on l2.

Theres literaly no benefit going from 6 skills to 4 apart from making the game a bit less fun lol.

Like i still love the game even if the performance is a bit wonky at times, but this change is honestly annoying esp if you played the first game.

Because a majority of what you used as normal skills in DDDA are now core skills. So the kit is still there.

Pst pst. Here. If you played Monster Hunter Rise's Sunbreak expansion, this will bring a grin. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/108?tab=description

thats simply not true. Sorcerrer and mage have a lot less options to choose from now. Galvanize is a borderless useless ability, and moving anodyne to core skills while still reducing total amount of skill slots for mage just feels bad. Only class that benefited going from dd1 to dd2 is warrior lol.

this isnt fully true depending on classes, fighter lost a fair bit of skills and some old core skills are missing. For only one weapon they really didnt make it better then the first

Like I said. "Majority." That doesn't mean all.

No, that is not what you said.

I find the change annoying as well, like I get the core skills keep the utility in dd2, but wouldn't it be better to have that utility AND 8 skills? Like, L2 should be another skill set, and more/new skills to refresh the game even more would've been nice. As for fighter, I always liked the sword skill set and juxtaposed the shield skill set to boot, I felt like that's what made fighter stand out was the shield had an entirely separate skill set, and I miss that. As for magic classes I think they're gonna feel this change the most, sure less can be more but in this case I think more would be more and should've been.

Mystic archer also benefited A LOT. infact while it was diffacult for mystic archer to solo fights that you had to use physical attacks for (looking at you floating talisman golem in the everfall) in dd2 we get a physical attack to kill golems very easily.

yep its not that good it's cos of the console controls ♥♥♥♥ that started yes ago... limits gameplay for no reason... But it is what it is, i guess. Still a missed opportunity.

IF we had more skills - talents whatever you want to call it, there would at least be a reason why you have to press one extra key to get skills off. As is there is no good reason for this controls....

My archer only has two skills. You expect too much.
Listen, everyone knows that tusk toss was necessary on fighter....

Most people are going to wind up looking the exact same over time, even more so then the original. once the meta has been established and there is actual a challenge like Bitterblack isle and hard mode so people will be inclined to use those skills and methods....yeah it's gonna be a LOT of copy paste

If we had 8 I would use skills like stealth on the thief but right now...I'm not giving up that slot for something that is actually important

The literal thing that ruins the game for me is that there are too few skill slots to equip as a mage it absolutely sucked.

This is be why you'll never see another Lord of the rings rpg. The landscape has changed. People want more magic and loot. It's unfortunate because middle earth would be a great playground.
Lord of the Rings enters public domain in 2044.

You will ABSOLUTELY see RPGs popping up, both likely before (the family trying to wring the last bit of licensing income), and VERY MUCH on the public domain day and afterwards.

Lots of cheaply made horror games too, but RPGs for certain.

Hobbits will replace halflings in a lot of future RPGs systems too.

You'll likely get actual D&D renditions of Middle Earth, Middle Earth monopoly...

Oh wait...

Of course that already exists.
