Exaggerated performance issues
All the whining regarding unplayable performance issues are way exaggerated and overblown. I was very apprehensive at first because I only have a mid level PC setup. And so far, the game plays fine on 4K. Only crashed once so far. Running around in cities is fine too. Nothing I would describe as unplayable. Seems to ne some people can't be happy unless they are constantly complaining.

2080 Ti here and I'm ok everywhere with a lock 60 fps except in town where it goes from 30 to 40 fps permanently.
Sorry to say but it's really a bad thing when we have so much to do in town.

I noticed running obs and dd2 will take will over 100% cpu power for some reason. One or the other hardly any both at once and my cpu is crying in the corner.

The game was already tested on multiple setups and the cause for this is that, IT is CPU heavy game.

One guy tested 6 setups with 4090 and the difference was each and everyone of those setups had 6 different CPUs. Ranging from Ryzen 5 3600 up to Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Then there is a problem with both DLSS and FSR that is being forcibly used by the game or in some cases underutilized and requires to go into game files and edit those settings manually.

So the issue is that if you own a high-end CPU and GPU and age difference between them is like 2-7 months apart then you'll be fine.

But if you pair up a 5 or 7 year old CPU with a 4080 or 6800 XT, you will have issues with performance and major stuttering.

And in addition, RE Engine that is being used to run this game, poorly utilizes CPU and GPU memory allocation.

Basically two major problems:
#1 PC setup and hardware age difference
#2 Engine process underutilization/ poor memory allocation.

capcom themselves acknowledge the performance problem, so what are you even doing here?
There's a difference between acknowledging the performance issues the game has and exaggerating them and claiming the game is completely unplayable.

Can’t help but agree. I went in super nervous and expected a complete mess of a game, based on all the outrage, but my PC runs the game well, outside of the obvious city FPS issue. 60 FPS everywhere outside of the cities. And my PC is quiet as can be the majority of the time. Yeah I really want them to fix the city issue asap but I honestly have no complaints otherwise.

My Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 2070 are at their absolute limit with this game and no, it's not really a smooth experience most of the time. Is it playable? Yes. Do I have 60 fps? Yes, but only in remote places like the upper north or west of the map. Does the performance tank in cities? Absolutely, 30fps in the capital, yay.

Some of the best games run at 30 FPS or lower : Zelda Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom, Bloodborne, Dark Souls on Xbox 360, etc.

Post your average FPS please.

I'm on 3070ti laptop. Yeah, not the most high-end these days, but it can barely squeeze 30 FPS on LOW settings, mostly it's 20-25 FPS, I'm not even mentioning the cities with more NPCs. The recommended GPU is 2080... FFS my laptop should run this game at least more than 60 FPS on LOW.
I mean I’m on a 3060Ti and get a smooth 60 outside of towns/cities. But I also have a pretty good processor (i7-12700F). It’s less your GPU that’s important and more so your CPU, with this game.

digital foundry tested it got exactly the same results as me with the same setup but some random steam-user begs to differ with his unknown hardware.

seriously this forum is full of trolls

it's exagerated yes, if you're someone who's not bothered by terrible frame pacing and low frame dips. For everyone else, it's not exagerated.
To be fair, I would love not being able to tell the difference like you, as it would make enjoying AAA games easier.
DrexGodar Mar 25, 2024 @ 4:20am
In the world it's around 90-120fps

In the city and town it's down to 40-50fps, it's not an exaggeration for many, that's how bad it is,

I'm using 7800X3D, so for users on previous gen CPU's it's going to be even worse.

Only time I dip to to 60 and below is in the city and that’s maxed with raytracing image on interlaced. I mean graphically the game doesn’t even look that good for most pcs even a 4090 and an I9 13900k to struggle especially when there’s graphically advanced games out there that run fine.

Dropping to 40s in the city on a 4 grand rig I’d say is under par, regardless or not whether it’s playabale the city isn’t that big!

In the wild I get steady average around 90fps native 4k sometimes up to 100+ sometimes down to 70s depends what’s going on. BUT HEY! The game runs fine for us right so what’s the problem? Maybe the thousands of others who can’t play or struggle with above recommended hardware.

It's not. I have a 7900XT OC and a 5800X3D OC. It's a really powerful computer and I go as low as 30 fps at 1440p. IN A GAME THAT LOOKS LIKE ♥♥♥♥, WITH A CRAZY AMOUNT OF POP IN and that is BLURRY AF

The game without RT looks like crap tbh.

Looks last gen, also this continued theme of towns running like crap is getting annoying. We have games going back over a decade that have large cities and hundreds of NPC and they run just fine on much slower hardware. There's something fundamentally wrong with modern game engines, or the developers don't know what they're doing.

There is a small hill you can climb onto just a little south of Melve, which can consistently drop your framerate (mine went from 60fps capped, and dropped to 20-30fps). It did it every single time without fail.

It's doing the same thing for me in Vernworth now, but it was strange that the engine was going crazy just at the top of this one very small hill.
