The basement door was unlocked before I talked to lottie and now its locked and cant get back in. Despite the objective being literally to check the basement room

Happened to me too and my pawn was locked inside. I was scared about jis safety. Anyway, go again and wait a bit outside the door. For me, the nun came out and it was unlocked again.

Isn't it a day/night thing? I believe before the quest the door was locked at all times but once you progress the quest you are told to look down then at night when the head lady is not around.

Wait until night and try it again.
