Attacks on city (possible spoilers):
Are these supposed to be happening? It feels like a bug / issue with spawns etc.

Either that or the devs are comfortable with putting dozens of NPC lives at risk and near enough spoiling a playthrough. It started off manageable - I woke up and there was a cyclops inside the main quarter of the capital.

Then I woke up at the inn and goblins were literally inside the inn (not sure how they managed to just waltz into the city)...

But now I've woken up and they dumped a bloody drake right into the market quarter.

Feels like a total joke, trying to pull the drake out of the city, praying that I keep its ire so the NPCs aren't just obliterated.

Same thing happened to me. I thought it was because I killed all the guards. Now Brant is dead and i cannot complete like 6 main quests now.

I had saurians in the city. It feels like a bug. I didn't question it when a griffin attacked the farmland outside the walls, but there shouldn't be monsters inside.

If Brant is dead use a wakestone on him
U can find his body in the crypt

It was certainly shocking to walk out of the Inn in the main city to go off questing, and have an Ogre attack the main square.

You can't expect me to use my weakstone for such design decisions. The game must also be playable without it.

As bad as it sounds. They really want you to work for it or pay for one.. I had to go finding shards. When I was escorting Oskar, he died of nothing right outside the room he needed to get to. Just found him on the stairs. Had to go to the crypt to get him back. But the wakestone shards took me hours to find.

That's literally what they are for... Unless you're just that bad that you are constantly getting killed there should be no reason you can't use them on dead npc's. It's a part of the games design. Get over it.

The game IS playable without using wakestones on yourself, because you can reload like every other rpg. In fact, iff you reload to the previous couple of minute, you can just avoid the deadly encounter completely.

Using wakestone on yourself is too wasteful.

Also, because I played DD1 and now I'm obsessed with hoarding wakestones in case I need to revive some npc for quest, or upgrading gears.

Also, why do you pay for micro transactions when you can have mods?

"You can't expect me to use wakestones for their intended purpose!"

Attacks I've seen: ogre, troll, goblin, saurian, wolf. These were all in the first city.

I've only seen a goblin attack in the second city. That may have been in unmoored too, if I'm remembering correctly.

Vermworth also has Drake Spawns as well at the front gate.

Bakbattahl has Undead, Red Wolves, and Hobgoblins in the Front Gate, and Chimeras will appear between the Palace and Main Strip once in a blue moon.

Wolves will attack the Sacred Arbor.

Harve will have an occasional Bandit and Saurian attack.

I had a Saurian attack once at Melve

Volcanic Outpost will have Hobgoblin, Rattler, and Zombie outbreaks.

The only place that I haven't seen any Monster attacks is the Checkpoint Rest Town.

I've seen a decent few so far but mostly weaker enemies. A couple of cyclops in Vernworth has been the worst of it. Yet to see a drake.. Kinda looking forward to that though. There seems to be a griffin spawn right out front of Bakbattahl and I've fought it just outside of town but not directly in town.

Wakestones are a rare commodity early in the game, so using them after that to revive important NPCs is part of the game mechanics. Many times, over numerous play throughs, I've needed to visit the morgues at Vernworth and/or Bakbattahl to revive quest-related NPCs when you realized the quests were simply not advancing. No one is immune from death.
The worse culprit in my games seems to be Trysha's grandmother, Eini, who keeping herself killed.

You typically end the game with 10-20 leftover stones.

Enter the Rift, summon two level 1 pawns with the Wakestone Shard as quest reward for traveling with said pawn for a day and night.

Sit at a bench and cycle day to night. Receive two free shards and dismiss the pawns. No gift needed, they are deleted Pawns the owners yeeted them by making a New Game.

Rince and repeat until you have as many Wakestones as you want.

I don't like it that abandoned pawns can still be hired...
