side quests

are the side quests shown on the map ? or do i get them if i just randomly talk to stangers ?

You just talk to random NPCs to get sidequests, or sometimes they start talking to you when you pass by. Until you start quest you will have no indicators of quest, and even then some of them are described vaguely and no necessary shown on the map, so you need to actually listen what some NPCs say.

Side quests are given to you when you walk by people and they approach you or if you talk to people on your own. I helped a guy who wanted a bow in the first main city and that turned into a decently long questline.

Some sidequests has the quest giver talks to you, others have you need to look out for a dialogue where they express concerns or distress, in Melve, you can get the quest to help Ian's brother since he express concerns in that floating dialogue thingy
just explore and come back to some town every once in a while to see if there's another side quest opened up or not
