Did you drive there in a cart from the big city?

i had the same issue. Multiple trips to Melve with no dragon attack. I watched some videos and was able to find the Mystic Spearhand NPC trainer in Harve village after completing a few main story missions.

Watch this video at the 3:00 mark to learn more.

Yeah the quest design is horrible. You may have advanced a quest too far or not enough. No one tells you when to check in on Melve, you just have to look it up or randomly find yourself there at the right time. Story quests can randomly and without warning fail you out of other quests because you completed them. If you don't go to every single town and talk to every single npc in each town after every story quest is given and after every story quest is turned in you can miss quests, items, and entire classes/skills. DD:DA had no such issue lol I missed one quest on my blind first playthrough. That game was a masterpiece, this is a horrible and failed imitation.

It feels like they did exactly 0 QA; no testers. There's no way any tester worth their paycheck or even named credit signed off on classes being locked behind random NPCs that you have to hope: Spawn in town and you run up and talk to at the right time with no character motivation besides "I have to talk to every npc in every town or I will miss things." It breaks immersion so hard I'd rather have yellow paint lol

I had this attack happen doing the letter side quest that introduces the ox carts in part, not sure what the trigger is for the attack itself though, but you can get mythic spearhand later, getting it early like this is more of a bonus.

I didn't realize that the NPC that gives you this vocation was supposed to be in Melve. I found him in a rundown shack in that town that was attacked by Saurians. It really confused me when he didn't have much to say but then I suddenly unlocked the vocation.

There is solution: Go to the back of Harve village and speak to the guy in the house on top, he gives you the vocation. I sadly learned today I locked myself out of content, but I unlocked the mystic spearhand vocation like this
