Terrible Framerate Regardless of Settings
So, I have a 3080 and a 10900k, along with 32GB of 3200 DDR4 RAM. However, I’m struggling to achieve between 20-30 FPS inside or outside of town. Even if I set everything to the lowest settings possible, the difference between 1280x720 resolution and everything at minimum settings, versus 3840x2160 maximum settings with ray tracing, is only about a 1-5 FPS difference at best. My GPU usage consistently remains between 95-100%, and CPU usage on all cores and threads hovers around the same range. I’ve even set ‘DD2.exe’ to high priority in Task Manager as others have said it can help, and there are no other applications running except for Steam. Also when I close Dragon’s Dogma 2, the CPU and GPU usage drops to 0% on the GPU and 3% on the CPU idle on desktop. So i know that there are no background processes running that may affect performance

Your rig isn't for 4k.

I got a 7800x3d and 4090. even I struggle to get 60fps in that area. in the first major town my framerate would drop to 50s. sometimes even 40s but that's with everything maxed out.

digital foundry mentioned it and I noticed it too with afterburner that the thread utilization is uneven. some are at 80% while a few linger at 5-10%

Odd.
Ryzen 5 3600, RX 6650xt, 16gb 3200, SATA SSD.
1080p, mixed low/high, no RT, FSR3
50-60 outside town, 30-40 in the main city.

edit: there was a thread saying that Nvidia settings have some issues. Try without DLSS? ALso something about going in to the Nvidia control panel and giving DD2 unlimited shader cache.

I have a 12700, 32GB of DDR4 (idk which speed off hand), a 980 pro nvme, and a 3080 ti.

I have adjusted my settings in the city and out in the wilderness from the lowest quality and resolution all the way to the max possible settings, DLSS on and off in each case.

The wilderness never goes below 60 when it's tranquil but can see a boost based on the settings being adjusted.

The city square never changes, regardless of settings. It's always 25-40 fps, generally staying at 40 if I'm not moving around. No matter what my graphics settings are, the performance in the city square is always exactly the same.

It's been verified by Capcom that this is not a GPU issue, but rather a CPU issue due to intensive process that does not scale well with the number of NPC's. There is no adjustment of existing GPU settings that will improve the current performance.

Got to just ride it out and/or wait until a patch is released.

I'm on Ryzen 5600X with a 3070 Ti, and the game is running at a locked 60fps outside of town and 30-40fps inside (1080p).

In general, your graphics settings should matter little with 3080 because the game is heavily reliant on the CPU. Check your CPU usage; maybe something in the background is consuming CPU resources, not leaving enough room for the game.

Sorry, typo... I meant 3070 ti

My performance lines up with yours nim.bat

if you look at afterburner cpu utilizations you'll notice that some threads was being used ( 70-80% ) while others are sitting at 5-60%.

hopefully they patch this soon

I have an Intel Core i9 13900K, 32GB of 7200MHZ RAM, and a Gigabyte RTX 4090 and my frame rates are ALL OVER THE PLACE. It is true; sometimes I get well over 100fps outside of the cities, other times it just drops to the 40’s for no apparent reason. I hate the optimization of this game.

They will fix it, but we'll have to be patient. The game is really fun so far.

yep similar experience. beginning area was around 120-150fps and then city it dropped to 40 but mostly at 50-60fps

yeah I think so too

Well the high priority in task manager doesn't do anything so I have to assume you are bad with computer. If none of the settings make a difference there's something else ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with your system.
