you know you can make a forgery at a certain shop right? (one of the use cases doesnt care if it is fake or not as far as i know)

I'm pretty sure that you are locked out of the capstone Mage and Sorcerer abilities if you used or lost this book. I restarted the game like four hours in when I realized this (by turning off cloud saves and deleting my save file) when I accidentally used my copy.

There is a merchant in Borderlands Checkpoint town that sells forgeries and also seems to sometimes have lost quest items for sale, Maybe he has another copy if you lost yours.

He moves to the city the moment you buy the book.

Dont know if he sells more though, but that explains why you cant find him.

I don't think you even need that book since it should be enough if you give only 3 books for them.

yes with 3 you can get the quest done. but like i said, best is to download the mod from nexus. makes things way way easier

Just FYI you can copy books, illegitimately, through a specific NPC merchant, and legitimately through another (afaik). I can't spoil it, but when you head west into the Vermund-Battahl border area, you'll eventually find at least one of those NPCs.
