the save system is disgusting
First time in my life that i write something about a game
but this is uterly frustrating.
First of all, what the heck is this save system?
i do a camp and one of my pawn ask me if i want to sell some of my "useless" item to help me manage the weight in my bag , what a surprise when she manage to sell EVERYTHING in my bag , like heckin everything
What a surprise that i encounter a dragon 1mn after , with no pot , no endu nothing. so i try to fight it but after 30mn with no possibility of doing anything against it , i try to reload a save in town
well , the game loaded 3h before.
What The Fetch ?!?
and the best part it that the auto save erase everything at the second when you push the load at the last safe time.
Man the game is cool and all but this just.... difficult to enjoy playing after that.

just happened to me too. I failed a sphinx riddle. it autosaved after the dialogue. had to reload at an inn and lost 4 hours. the technology for multiple saves is present. this is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lazy and it infuriates me.

So you fight dragon for 30 minutes instead of just walking away then press a button that presents a warning message that all progress since last inn will be lost? That's entirely on you

It is a toned down version of breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter's save system. That game requires one to use finite save token at phone booths to save as well as a 'Suspend Game' save and nothing else which itself is a 'Casual' version of Resident Evil's save system where the only saves are made using the finite Ink Ribbon items found in game.

Multiple save slots actually predate this type of save system. It is not a matter of laziness since it took effort to figure out how to reduce the effectiveness of save states.

You aren't supposed to reload. Wrong answers and poor choices have consequences. that's the fun par.t

It's apart of the push to have meaningful consequences and accepting things being imperfect. I'm all for it actually as I save scum if I can and it hinders me from experiencing things.

As long as you can have one pawn, you can only have one hard save. That save is the last time your online pawn synced with the server.

You aren't allowed to have fun. Especially in Dragon's Dogma.

Thats what i gathered from this community at least. Its not supposed to be well made and respect your time. Anything bad that happens to you is your fault and you should be punished by having a 4 hours reset.

If you truly valued your time you wouldn't be playing video games.

DD2 has consequences, you make a bad choice and now you have to deal with it. If you want to be able to beat a game without making choices, play Mario Brothers.
-also-
Just because something doesn't happen ideally, doesn't mean you need to reset the game and try again, learning to roll with the punches is a valuable skill that can also be an enjoyable experience.

You twitter users are really quick to jump the gun. I read this multiple times, and I can see clearly that the OP isn't blaming the save system for his shortcomings, but pointing out or rather complaining that this game's terrible save system design contributes to such shortcomings.

Listen I love this game too, I've clocked about 20 hours on it so far and I freaking like it. But I think for myself, and I can agree, with many other things, but this one is the one that I agree the most: The save system in this game is atrocious, terrible, does not benefit the player in any way. It doesn't seem like a deliberate design to add challenge, death in this game means nothing, all you gotta do is load back and retry, so challenge isn't it.

And if you're not a Twitter user as I assumed, you act exactly like one by taking a stance that has nothing to do with the original post.
