Multiple save slots actually predate this type of save system. It is not a matter of laziness since it took effort to figure out how to reduce the effectiveness of save states.
Thats what i gathered from this community at least. Its not supposed to be well made and respect your time. Anything bad that happens to you is your fault and you should be punished by having a 4 hours reset.
If you truly valued your time you wouldn't be playing video games.
DD2 has consequences, you make a bad choice and now you have to deal with it. If you want to be able to beat a game without making choices, play Mario Brothers.
-also-
Just because something doesn't happen ideally, doesn't mean you need to reset the game and try again, learning to roll with the punches is a valuable skill that can also be an enjoyable experience.

You twitter users are really quick to jump the gun. I read this multiple times, and I can see clearly that the OP isn't blaming the save system for his shortcomings, but pointing out or rather complaining that this game's terrible save system design contributes to such shortcomings.
Listen I love this game too, I've clocked about 20 hours on it so far and I freaking like it. But I think for myself, and I can agree, with many other things, but this one is the one that I agree the most: The save system in this game is atrocious, terrible, does not benefit the player in any way. It doesn't seem like a deliberate design to add challenge, death in this game means nothing, all you gotta do is load back and retry, so challenge isn't it.
And if you're not a Twitter user as I assumed, you act exactly like one by taking a stance that has nothing to do with the original post.
