How to get back to Vernworth from Bakbattahl?

Hello,
I haven't finished the main quests in the first area > I traveled to checkpoint rest village > accidentally crossed the line to the desert > porticullis won't open and let me back to Vernworth area. How can I get back there?

Assuming you activated the Portcrystal in Vernworth or Harve Village, then you just need to get a Ferrystone somewhere and teleport back. The item seller in Bakbattahl sells them, so you just need to go into the city and buy one.

Otherwise, hopefully your last Inn save was on the correct side of the border.

I didn't activate any portcrystal in Vernworth and last save isn't on the right side so ferrystones and loading isn't useful.

If you wait, a NPC might cross the border, giving you the opportunity to pass illegaly. You'll get attacked by guards tho.

I'm in the same situation, I took the cart to Bakbattahl but haven't activated the portcyrstal so I can't use a ferrystone and my last inn save is at bakbattahl. I can't seem to even survive to make it through the secret back entrance in the link above, does anyone have other solutions or am I screwed and might have to start a new character?

Sorry this took so long for me to see -

There are at least 2 ways to get back illegitimately.

One is to follow the coast road and travel through the Guerco Cavern. I think this works going north, though you may have to drop down on the exit? I am not there to check.

Be mindful that Guerco Caven is immense and has 3 exits.

Supposedly they will also let you through if you wear a beastman mask, I haven't tried this. I'm stuck on the battahl side now because the guards attacked my crew and got unalived (to use the streamer euphemism)

I have seen the wooden wagon on the road that passes through the gate on the roads in battahl but never seen it arrive from the battahl side yet to actually enter the gate returning to the north. There's no way to speed up time on it and the south is a monster war zone and the wagon won't last more than a few minutes before something lands on it.

There's a dry river bed and cave that goes around the gate. THat's how I got in. And out.

Hey people, i had the same problem and the solution was to show my face removing my helmet LOL my character is Beastren and i had the permision in inventory (if that matters)

Before I had the quest to travel to Bakbattahl I was exploring the starter region and there is a way to get to the dessert area without going through the check point. Easiest way to find it is on the Bakbattahl side. Just follow the roads in Bakattahl and follow the most northern road. Now I can not recall if it is a one way trip, but I know I explored part of Bakbattahl prior to that quest. I just ended up TPing back to the capital.
