I went to load from a Tavern save, and it loaded one from 12 hours ago instead of the actual latest one. This also instantly deletes your last auto-save, so it was impossible for me to regain my lost progress. I'm actually in awe at how terrible this is. How could ANYONE think this was acceptable in any way? Devs have solved the save system issue over 20 years ago; auto saves, manual saves, and quick saves all take different slots... they also tell you at what point in your game it was saved BEFORE you load it.
I'm in shock at this. How can a game so otherwise well-designed fail on such a fundamental level.
WHY can't we have more than two save files?
WHY can't we see where they are in our progress?
AND WHY, FOR F*CKS SAKES, WOULD LOADING A TAVERN SAVE INSTANTLY DELETE YOUR AUTO SAVE. WHY? HOW COULD THAT POSSIBLY BE JUSTIFIED?
I'm genuinely pretty pissed at this.
and save game bugs, CTD's should be the #1 mission critical priority for them.
didn't sound like that was the case on their last news post
and their cloud is overloaded?
I don't understand the steam user need to jump on a topic and say, "well it doesn't happen to me so you're obviously doing something wrong"
No value added. Let people discuss bugs and issues without having to sift through DD2 white knights
Theres nothing else to 'explain' - I wasn't doing anything special, I went on a quest (to keep things spoiler-free) that involved meeting with someone who ultimately helped save someone, and that person then became the new leader of a town. Neato, fun stuff, so walked back to the city on foot as an archer (Was maxed thief, but had been leveling archer instead just to get the Augmentations), got to the city just fine, a few new levels under my belt and an additional one for my mage (was a fighter / warrior level 6 but wanted to see what she'd do as a mage) - so naturally, go to the vocation trainer to get the mage's spells upgraded / switched around, and see what was new under my own. The mouse locked up, oof, that sucks, 5-6 seconds later, it unlocked and I was able to back out of the UI and go to the menu, save and continue, go back into the vocation trainer and start too ----- nope, crashed and lost everything. I can't even be like "Well it crashed while I was saving" .. not that - THAT - would be any more acceptable, the simple fact is it didn't.
Nevermind the fact I hadn't rested at an Inn for at least a couple hours, so why the hell that save was shot back to the beginning? No clue. But I don't even have Steam's cloud saving on so I can't even point a finger at that and be like ~steams fault~ in this instance, this was legit just the game imploding the saves.
Oh... oh.. useless tidbit, I also switched from borderless-windowed mode to fullscreen mode. Ya know, heavens forbid I do that I guess, only other thing I can think of.
