I haven't seen any of the long capes do it just yet, i.e. Expeditioner's Cape.

For clarity, all weapons on the back do not clip as the cape gets locked to you down to a certain length.

However, this does NOT happen only for shields. It should be nothing more than a tag in regards to animation and shields for it to no longer clip, and look much cleaner so I'm going to assume at the moment, that it's a glitch. Has to be, especially if weapons don't clip.

Interestingly enough you don't need to wear a cape it does not add to your armor it only adds stats like % against sleep attacks or whats so ever. Same goes for glasses etc.

Cape is for fashion imho. The game isn't hard enough to justify looking ugly only to get 2% sleep res.

I just made a mod reuqest for this on Nexus, hope they working something about it.. The mod request is make the cloak physics function properly when equipped with a shield, similar to how it works with 2-handed weapons

It doesn't clip just through shield and weapons but through outfit itself too. If your pawn have one of those "armor" with a skirt and the cape you got is long enough it'll clip right through it too and look like crap
