Quest bugged?

I did a quest to save a merchant's grandson from some wolves. The next step is to tell him that I saved him and he's OK, but every time I talk to the merchant he just talks to me like normal and my character won't tell him the quest is done. Even tried to rest at an inn, and nothing.

One thing that was strange was the kid was following me. I had a yellow diamond on my map showing his position. I had to set my controller down for a bit so I paused the game. Came back and the kid was gone, but still, my quest marker wanted me to go back to the shop as my next step and it still is, but it won't finish the quest.. Kind of sucks because I have no saves before saving the kid.

Maybe the kid died and you need to find his body and revive him; or hes alive and you might need to go look for him around the area.

Thanks for the brainstorm reply. I went back and sure enough, the kid was just standing there. He's following me now. Don't know why he stopped, but. Everything is fine at the moment.

It's strange that his yellow icon wasn't on my map, though. It is now that he's with me, but..

i had that same problem, i just ferrystoned away after rescuing him, didnt realize i had to escort the kid back to his dad

Now I want to add that going back and talking to the merchant wasn't enough. I had to walk into the shop. When the kid followed me inside, their dialogue started automatically to finally complete the quest.. Crazy.

That's good to know. I had a half of a mind to use one after I went back and found him.
