Archery too hard and janky to Aim...
Anyone else find the archery system in this game god awful? Let me start by saying I'm using controller because the mouse camera in this game feels like a 4 way input and does not feel right at all, even maxed out up and down look is super slow and if you try to draw a circle its more like a square...

So onto the controller aiming it's awful, there's no dedicated raise bow and aim like with trigger in most shooters, you have to hold R1 which also draws them bow and you release then have to keep re holding to go back to aim, there you use an ability by pressing AXBY You have 0 control over the aim while trying to hold R1, so for example the torrent ability where you spawn arrows fast, you literally cant adjust aim while spamming A etc to shoot the arrows...

Honestly it's like archery is for MOUSE ONLY but mouse feels like utter crap...

The control layout was very poorly thought out in general, but especially so for archery. You have to use 2 thumb buttons simultaneously - R stick for aiming, R buttons for weapon skills - which alone requires a strange grip of the controller to do. Also requiring repeated holding and releasing of the R button makes this even worse. So many trigger buttons wasted on functions that I do once every few hours.

It was odd for me at first but after playing with it for a little while I ended up loving it.

Holding L1 allows you to 'knock' and prepare skills without aiming. The auto aim kicks in and will do it's best to hit what you're facing.

Holding R1 puts you into manual aim where you can prepare your skills and hold them while aiming.

It can be a little rough if you get stuck in one of your charge skills since you can't move quickly if you're knelt down and aiming. It kept me more diligent on watching my opponents. If they started to get too close I'd start kiting until my pawns took the attention again.

Also, quick tip. It also uses your controllers gyroscope. If you set yourself up with R1 to aim and you have a gyroscope the aim will use it unless you use the right thumbstick. The thumbstick has priority over the gyroscope but if you happen, for example, to be aiming and let the thumbstick go before firing the gyroscope may pick up any physical movement and bump your aim.

Controls are crap across the board tbh, archery is particularly bad.

Yup, even when you right click your bow it shows an arrow ready to shoot, but when you go to shoot just a regular shot, you have to load an arrow..lol

Yeah it's like they did't even play test the game heh.

Honestly, I don't understand why they changed the system from the original game, where when you're aiming, R2 becomes the button for loosing your arrows, whereas using one of the rapid skills would just repeatedly prep that skill after each shot, until you were no longer aiming.

Like, the bow being harder to aim is fine, I just hate having to press the skill buttons repeatedly and let go of the aiming button to loose my arrows rather than just pressing a shoulder button.

They had a perfectly fine system in the first game, and for some reason completely threw it out and replaced it with this.

I've also had little to no issues with it. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of my play time to figure out that you could quick knock your skills with L1 but once I found out it I was able to rapid fire with ease.

Not sure if you're aware, apologies if you are but you are able to loose the skills without letting go of your aim. If you hit the same skill button of the skill you loaded a second time it will loose the skill the same as if you let go of aim.

Oh right.... you reminded me for no reason rofl

I swapped my bumpers and triggers so I shoot with Right trigger 🤣 that probably helps a lot if people are trying to play with bumper skills nah haha
