The DLC Argument
So let me preface this by saying I don't support, nor am I defending the DLC.

Anyways I've been seeing a lot of discussion in regards to the dlc, and honestly I can't help but laugh in confusion how controversial it is. First of all, the dlc, aside from the change tickets, are completely useless. You can find that stuff in the game, and the weapons you get are outclassed in like the first few hours.

Now the change tickets are different. They let you change your characters' and your pawn's appearance. Pretty dumb right? Except oh wait, Capcom has been doing this since Monster Hunter World, which came out almost 10 years ago. I don't know about Exo Primal, but every Capcom game that has a character customizer has had this dlc. So uh... why complain about it now?? It just seems disingenuous to say that's part of the reason Dragon's Dogma 2 is a bad game, when those same people who played MHW, Rise, SF6 literally ignore the fact the those games have the same DLC in them. Even games without change tickets have had crappy DLC. DMC5, a single player game, has those stupid time saver DLCs just like Dragon's Dogma 2, except in my opinion those are actually worse because it just straight gives you the in game currency so you don't have to grind for it. The RE games have DLC that literally unlock everything for you. And then you have SF6's overpriced costumes, albeit SF5 did the exact same thing so idk about that one.

I just find it interesting that the DLC in Dragon's Dogma 2 is so miniscule and completely useless in comparison aside from the change tickets, people are using it as a reason for this being a bad game. Not saying they're dumb or anything, I just find it interesting. I think the backlash should be equal among all Capcom games in my opinion, because honestly it's stupid that they even sell this stuff in the first place. At the end of the day though, at least the people on PC have cheat engine and or mods and can just give themselves the change tickets or whatever. Obviously that won't work on console which is unfortunate but hey, don't buy a console lol.

What do you want ppl to do then, just ignore it? its only going to make it worse for the next games.

Also you cant really compare it with Monster Hunter, altho pretty sure ppl didnt like it either, but it's not really a single player game, and it pushed out new content all the time.
Well I said at the end the backlash should be the same for all of Capcom's games, not just SF6 and DD2. Also I think it's fair to compare MH and DD2 because regardless if those two games are different, they still have the dumb change tickets.

I don't know, I can't compare those 2, as I said, MHW isnt really a single player game like DD2, and for MHW to have microtransactions made somewhat sense because they pushed out new FREE content all the time, I doubt DD2 is going to do that, but even so, it's still a single player game.

And with Monster Hunter Wilds coming out next year, I'm sure some ppl are a little bit worried like myself, we really dont want that crap in the store, purely cosmetic shop items I think is fine when in return you get actual new, good and free content pretty much all the time.

i thought we were never okay with it?

I think I'm gonna have to write a guide for dummies or something.

All and all, the MTX is... just kinda dumb. It adds nothing to the game, and most of them are common items. The game would literally be better of without them - capcom can monetize their games in other ways, like freaking merch. Don't sell me an item I can get in the game by walking outside and taking the first right. Sell me a statue of the titular dragon! Something I can put on my desk at work or something.

Modern monetization methods are just... bad. :c
You can lay up to 10. Means you don't need more than 10, as you can't use more than 10. You can get enough in the game. I think it is just for those who don't want to actually find them all.

Moreover all the MTX is a one time purchase(that's why some are labeled with A B C...), most of it is one time use.

OMFG. If that's true... The one item that was even remotely sketch was the Portcrystal simply because we didn't know how far into a NG run you had to be to hit the 10 placement cap...

All DLC items are obtainable in-game with minimal effort, if you can't do as much as read the information on said DLC pages, you're an idiot.

Alongside all your points, the character customization item isn't a day 1 MTX, it's part of the Deluxe edition bonus that has been known since preorders were available.

By allowing people to purchase it separately, all they're doing is allowing standard owners to upgrade with the parts of the deluxe edition they specifically want rather than buying the entire bundled upgrade.

Oh I see thanks for clarifying that. Still though in my opinion that's no different than other capcom games, and regardless the dlc is still dumb and not worth the money

It's not okay in either of them. Don't try to justify it. Either they're there for no reason and offer something of little value to the player so they should be removed or they have a value to the player and should be either in the base game or offered in a worthwhile value proposition that they never are.

So the DLC is even dumber, good to know. Thanks for the correction!

I mean you're ultimately crying about the low weight tent though. You think he's loser cause your an idiot. You get infinite everything else. You just have to be intelligent enough to know how to do it. They just didn't hold anyones hand and now those people are crying like children.
Littell Mar 23, 2024 @ 9:15am
People just want to complain. Haters gonna hate....the tickets can also be acquired in-game and the things you can buy with real money can only be bought ONCE. it is there cuz capcom requires it from their devs, but it is useless. People just want to complain over anything.

Would it be better if there were no MTX? Definitely! Does having them affect the game experience? Absolutely NOT.
FrozenStar Mar 23, 2024 @ 9:18am
I really don't understand Capcom.
It's a lose-lose situation.
Those who actually KNOW what these items are understand that they are a worthless garbage earned in-game naturally without even trying.
Those who DO NOT KNOW what these items are just screech REEEEEE MTX and I cannot blame them.
Really weird move from Capcom. Yet again, they do that with every release. I'm just thankful that these dlcs are actual unnecessary garbage and I never felt a need to buy anything even for a moment, neither in DD1, nor in RE, nor in DMC.

There is only one thing you can't get in the game the lighter weight tents. That is what everyone is complaining about and it makes them seem very unintelligent.
There's actually an Elite tent that only weights 4 kg. You get it for free from a quest.
