The DLC Argument
So let me preface this by saying I don't support, nor am I defending the DLC.

Anyways I've been seeing a lot of discussion in regards to the dlc, and honestly I can't help but laugh in confusion how controversial it is. First of all, the dlc, aside from the change tickets, are completely useless. You can find that stuff in the game, and the weapons you get are outclassed in like the first few hours.

Now the change tickets are different. They let you change your characters' and your pawn's appearance. Pretty dumb right? Except oh wait, Capcom has been doing this since Monster Hunter World, which came out almost 10 years ago. I don't know about Exo Primal, but every Capcom game that has a character customizer has had this dlc. So uh... why complain about it now?? It just seems disingenuous to say that's part of the reason Dragon's Dogma 2 is a bad game, when those same people who played MHW, Rise, SF6 literally ignore the fact the those games have the same DLC in them. Even games without change tickets have had crappy DLC. DMC5, a single player game, has those stupid time saver DLCs just like Dragon's Dogma 2, except in my opinion those are actually worse because it just straight gives you the in game currency so you don't have to grind for it. The RE games have DLC that literally unlock everything for you. And then you have SF6's overpriced costumes, albeit SF5 did the exact same thing so idk about that one.

I just find it interesting that the DLC in Dragon's Dogma 2 is so miniscule and completely useless in comparison aside from the change tickets, people are using it as a reason for this being a bad game. Not saying they're dumb or anything, I just find it interesting. I think the backlash should be equal among all Capcom games in my opinion, because honestly it's stupid that they even sell this stuff in the first place. At the end of the day though, at least the people on PC have cheat engine and or mods and can just give themselves the change tickets or whatever. Obviously that won't work on console which is unfortunate but hey, don't buy a console lol.

It's just that it has been going on for so long that people are fed up with it and want to send a message to developers that many consumers do not think it's okay.

That doesn't mean they are lying or disingenuous. Many of them weren't even gaming 10 years ago to be mad at Monster Hunter.

Also, a lot of the bad reviews are based not just on the MTX, but on the massive pile of other little things that are wrong with the implementation and design.

What do you want ppl to do then, just ignore it? its only going to make it worse for the next games.

Also you cant really compare it with Monster Hunter, altho pretty sure ppl didnt like it either, but it's not really a single player game, and it pushed out new content all the time.

In order to use it, you must get to the capital and enter the hair salon. The hair salon is the building next to the pawn-guild, where the exact same item is sold for 500RC.

By the time you can use it, you have 500RC and are in the spot to buy it... It is also useless.

I have a feeling it's not the same people, it can't be. I find this whole thing very weird.
You have to pay to change your character in MHW and Rise, but now they're mad?

It has to be people new to capcom games.

Well when I say 10 years ago, I'm saying it started 10 years ago and never stopped. I'm just curious that the backlash is on a case by case basis. No one complains, at least this much, when DMC5, or RE4, or MHR has the same DLC, but then suddenly it's now a huge issue, and those games are far more recent than MHW.

And yes I'm well aware of the other problems but I'm specifically talking about the DLC in this instance. And no I don't think anyone is lying, and I'm sorry if I came off that way, but I still think it's weird how someone can be ok with the same sort of dlc from one game but not be ok with the dlc in this game.

Well I said at the end the backlash should be the same for all of Capcom's games, not just SF6 and DD2. Also I think it's fair to compare MH and DD2 because regardless if those two games are different, they still have the dumb change tickets.

Yeah that may be it, but like I said every Capcom game has some form of stupid DLC that at least some of them know that capcom does this kind of thing

There are free change tickets in the game 2 of them. You can also buy with in game gold changes.

There is only one thing you can't get in the game the lighter weight tents. That is what everyone is complaining about and it makes them seem very unintelligent.

This game has 10k less players than HellDivers2 right now, it's a success and all these people that are review Bombing are either listening to YouTube or they're actively playing the thing they're complaining about right now.

The reason is magazines/websites run off of Steam Discussion and Reddit. Cause journalism is dead. It'll take them the rest of this week to start putting out pieces that point out the discussion is moronic. You should start seeing these articles today or Monday.

It's just the normal news thing (drama) sells. Morons read the first stuff and jump on a bandwagon people who don't even own the game, people who don't even play the game.

As the next week rolls around you'll start seeing more positive reviews (or when people finish the game).

The appearance ones are kinda eeeeh, but the real egregious one is the PortCrystal - that's an extra fast travel point you can lay down. All things you can get in game granted, but PortCrystals have a cap, and appearance changers require you to make a loop.

All and all, the MTX is... just kinda dumb. It adds nothing to the game, and most of them are common items. The game would literally be better of without them - capcom can monetize their games in other ways, like freaking merch. Don't sell me an item I can get in the game by walking outside and taking the first right. Sell me a statue of the titular dragon! Something I can put on my desk at work or something.

Modern monetization methods are just... bad. :c

Nope, they're not listening to Youtube - they're actually yelling at the youtubers to hear it since the youtubers didn't really bring up the MTX in their reviews, they just reviewed the game on its own merits instead. So it's even dumber than you're thinking, turns out.

The backlash was the same and it'll sadly get forgotten and washed away again in 5-10 years. Ppl will wonder how this gem was overshadowed again. The differences are this game happens to have more of a mainstream audience than the niche fanbase of Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter's PC port being 7 months later. Same with DMC5. There are still the same PC port complaints, the same microtransaction complaints, etc. History repeats. You can still see the positive and negative reviews on release of Monster Hunter World on PC. Not everyone changed them.

Alongside all your points, the character customization item isn't a day 1 MTX, it's part of the Deluxe edition bonus that has been known since preorders were available.

By allowing people to purchase it separately, all they're doing is allowing standard owners to upgrade with the parts of the deluxe edition they specifically want rather than buying the entire bundled upgrade.

Set your pawn to buy them (port crystals) from other players....not sure what you mean loop. You just go to the barber and pay gold, the full change is only required if you want to change everything at once other wise you can do it all in gold.

Also the main city has infinite port crystals they just stock 1 per day...
