discarding items has no warnings

i wanted to give a sword i just got to my pawn and i accidently clicked discard instead of give and there is no warrning, simply item gone

alt + f4 and reload your save
You'll get your sword back. Will have to do a bit of replaying what progress you lost but the game is pretty solid with its autosaves at least

I accidentally discarded camp gear and it was a few feet behind me on the ground. Wasn't sure if that was always there or not but assumed it was mine.

Discarding 'destroys' items. You can't drop things on the ground to be picked up again later

Oh wow, I must've had the weirdest coincidence lol because I accidentally discarded camping gear in a river between 2 cave entrances and there happened to be one on a rock behind me that I didn't notice before.

Was gonna say, I dropped rotten food and it was on the ground where I was standing.

Hell even the pawns when they "clean" your bags for you just drop everything on the ground. There is no destroy.

I could've sworn it just deletes them

i was wrong discarding drops it on the floor, you just need to move away so the item will appear
