Random people attacking in City?
I'm in the first city doing the quests, and 3 times now I've been randomly attacked by random people. Couple of the guards in the palace area, some random person in the slums, the last one pulled in 3 other people and a few guards and I rage quit in the end. What is causing the aggro? I run past plenty of people who do not randomly attack me...

Your clothing makes you stand out! Are you the Arisen? Or an Imposter?

They can't be. I am the true Arisen. They told me so!

But it isnt even guards attacking me or initiating (at least not all the time) I walked into the slums where there are no guards and almost every NPC started fighting me. I honestly dont understand. This feels like a 10 year old game in a lot of ways.

You probably accidentally killed innocent people at some point. Thinking they were bad people on the road or something. In the wild there are random groups of guards that will come at you with weapons drawn if yours are. But they will not attack and your pawns will wait. So if you attacked them and killed them... it could have had a cascading effect on the popularity of your character.

Die to them and see what happens, then load your save if you want. I saw a streamer get arrested by guards. So that will probably be what happens.
you might enter a place u shouldnt , you might actually landed on someone that is an attack and u might used your weapons

Weaing different clothing than the original or dark clothing or wearing something that came from something evil can make you look different.

I have kind of the same problem. But for me its only in the slums. I tried to go there to talk to the historian for the magistrate quest. But as soon I enter the slums, out of nowhere I get attacked by all the npc's there. When walking around in the rest of the city there's no problem. All the npc's and guards are friendly.

EDIT: I dont have my weapon drawn. And when I let them all kill me I just die and only can reload (guards are not arresting me). I already reloaded from inn and tried again, same result...

I had to just kill as many as were aggro'd and revive the guy (kendrick I think) with the rev crystal and then he was ok with me. The children may not be in the right places to progress the quest, but you can find them in the area. Pain in the ass. I wish I could refund but I have over two hours now.

Read in a similar topic that sleeping two days and then changing a pawn helped. I tried sleeping two days, and then tried entering the slums first before changing a pawn. And it worked. The npc's in the slums did not attack me anymore. So if anyone have a similar problem, just try sleeping for two days in a row. Changing a pawn was not needed. ;)

First Time I'd entered the city.
Is that all? What did you say to them? How did you react? Were you nice to them? Were you friendly? How was your face expression? I was talking about your character in a game.

And you, I'm talking about real you, what did you do on your screen and your keyboard, mouse, controller? Were you nice to them? What was on your mind? Didn't you realize that NPCs were watching real you, not just only your character in a game? They might react to you in the real world.

This is because of that quest where you have to find a room full of books for some dude.

It's still happening after reloading.

I've tried leaving and returning with no armour, normal clothes on, no weapon equipped, pawns left outside, and even the guards at the gate aggro me. It's preventing me from even completing quests.

You made sure to have that letter from that one dude in ya inventory when first entered?

if you didn't get on the cart with him he gives you a letter and says you need to show it to guard or you could have trouble entering the city. that might be ya issue, or you pissed them off, try camping outside of town for a few days and see if they are still mad at you
