WARNING Never use "Load from last inn rest"
It will completely wipe and override your other save data, I misclicked on the option just now and lost 7-8 hours of progress as I dont rest at inns and this joke of a save system is the last straw for me

Not the first time I read this. First game has something like that too, with something like "Load from the last checkpoint" who was already something bad.

I don't understand why this is a thing in a game like this. Why you can't have a simple save/load system option ?

House still counts but campfires do not, where it loaded me to was my house about 7-8 hours ago.

They say for immersion. Its just an excuse for laziness IMO.

Yeah the main difference between the two was in the first game you can load freely between either last save or last checkpoint but in this game they intentionally made it overwrite your other save if you ever reload from last inn it sucks and is why im trying to bring visibility to the issue so less others are affected

How are new players supposed to know this? At least give a warning, it is an unnecessary pitfall. And add multiple saves, and manual hard saves wherever.

And paying 2000 gold to save at an inn is dumb. Pay2hard save is stupid.
The save system is literally explained to you quite early on. Inn saves are the checkpoint saves of DD2.
Also 2000 gold is not much really many enemy drops are worth in the hundreds. It doesn't take much to end up banking hundreds of materials, if you haven't found enough to buy a night at an in, withdraw some and sell to the closest merchant.

Yep because nothing screams immersion like time travelling back 8 hours and loosing all the effort you put in :LaughingOwlcat:

While I'd prefer a traditional save system, the inn save is useful as a backup save, I've had one quest go horribly wrong, the game obviously saved that result right as I failed as it does that all the time, but my inn save was still there allowing me to essentially roll back to before I did the quest, it's a convoluted system for those who would rather just save any time and I'm sure the idea is to stop save scumming, but all it does is make you take extra steps to do it. It does have a purpose within the flawed system in place though, think of it as a backup similar to system restore on your computer.

Well that is incentive to buy a house after all. They should put that in the comment section and call it an Inn or House Save.

Auto save - will kill any other save it finds if it saved last, there can be only 1

If you sneeze you lose your save or end up 8 hours back in Dragon's Dogma because the game forces you to NOT able to avoid such an outcome by... having multiple saves

Do we really have to manually back up saves every day to avoid this in 2024 in a steam cloud RPG????

This.

I cannot stand games that even limit saves to even 3, let alone huge games with only 10 or 20. I was doing that in the previous game, but got tired of it, and pretty sure the save system is why I stopped playing the first. Modders may be the only solution here.

Save system is bad and can F you up really bad if you dont know how it works. Game literally tells you to go that way and there is not even taverns on that long journey. Pawns get killed with your stuff and sometimes you dont even notice they are gone. Autosave keeps on spamming save.
Tavern save says "your gonna lose all progress" when trying to load that.
My tavern save was on "tutorial" part so not an option to load...

I mean you guys are actually coping if you think it's a good system that Last Inn Save overwrites your other save completely. There is no reason for him to take responsibility for it, it simply shouldn't exist in the game. It has too many chances for mistakes.

It will become the new hard save point (the new "Load from last inn rest") and will override your current autosave slot

HA! That is why I am patiently waiting for the update to come before I start out. One I want to see what gets fixed and what else might get broken. Two I plan to mod the crap out of this game to fix a lot of the deficiencies and I do not want an update to bork those mods.
