WARNING Never use "Load from last inn rest"
It will completely wipe and override your other save data, I misclicked on the option just now and lost 7-8 hours of progress as I dont rest at inns and this joke of a save system is the last straw for me

The option to load at inn should just be removed. I have no idea why you'd want that, maybe if your stuck in your main auto save?

Use Inns to save your game before heading out on major quests. They are meant for a back up save just in case you get in a bad situation. Seems to work well for me anyway. I think the game was suppose to be more hardcore so people couldn't save scum. The game would be super easy if you could just save anytime you wanted. But i guess I'm just a "filthy boot licker" lmao.. smh
I dont think you're a bootlicker because you're not bending backwards to justify the option like some others, I agree with what you've said and if that was where it ended we would entirely agree, the fact that if you ever accidentally load from inn it will intentionally override and wipe your other save is not justifiable.

So you screwed up...learn from it and move on this sounds like more of a personal problem than a game problem
I made the post to warn other people that this feature exists where the inn save load file will intentionally remove your other save file regardless if it was intentional or not, if you wanna act hurt about that feel free.

Well best option is to remove steam cloud and simply back-up your saves
data000 and data00-1 bins are your quick saves so to say, while data001slot is the Inn save.
I keep back-ups constantly due to completionist OCD so if i fck up and progress main story via different way such as illegal borders or different end choice, i can go to main menu copy back my old save (I manually back it up every few minutes when i save my own game as well) and bam i don't have to regret my choice.

I think the option to load from it is okay but its a poor substitute for manual saves which you can choose between, people will complain about people save scumming but honestly who cares what people choose to do its a single player game and the current save situation is parasitic to the experience for many

I never used, why is it needed? We already have 'Load the game form the last save.' I believe most people just wanna start the game at the lastly saved moment.
Ah, now I get it, it is 'a new game' option! It just removes everything, it is a new start!
OMG, there's a new game option, I found it, finally.

100% in hindsight I would do this also I just wasnt aware of the risk till too late and even despite that its disappointing in 2024 people have to resort to this just to have a save file safe from being wiped

just lost all progress from lvl 2 to 12 because of this ♥♥♥♥...

npcs from the main quests to go to the main city chased a harpie near a cliff and all fell into the water... no way to reload.. so i tried from last save... lvl 2 again

No new game, 1 save, no multiple characters the whole system is extremely weird, if it weren't for the actual game I'd assume it was made by amateurs.

The weird part is if you corrupt your save THERE IS a start game option it's just hidden until you get a save corruption which is extremely moronic. This can't of been an oversight and it can't of been the developers being amateurs. Itsuno must of specifically ask for there not to be a New Game option.

I've looked past a lot when it comes to DD2 but this, this is something else.

A lot of people are using it for the hard save before doing quests you can fail/timeout from what I've read and in that aspect it is workable just wish they had a better save system like the one from the first game

maybe because as people have pointed out, when you do a quest and the quest either messes up or you do something incorrect, you can use an Inn save and go back before that quest to fix whatever the issue you messed up..

If you had a single save without that other option, if something messed up, you're done, that's it.. your whole save file is messed up with no way of fixing it,, with inn save you have another option, besides the , dang now I have to restart everything..

Hmm, only 1 save file and there are 2 loading options, and it overwrites that only one save.

Yep the forceful override is where my issue comes from, the second it loads the other save it will force auto save and remove all your progress :/

Look at all these shills defending the way this system works... This is simply idiotic design, the fact you don;t have multiple save slots. Stop defending this moronic decision to have an option you can click even by mistake completely wipe your entire save and progression
