Didn't immediately speak to the Fighter Meister after the fight, and now I'm never going to get the ultimate skill
Seems a bit utterly stupid imo. Like... how the hell was I supposed to know I had to IMMEDIATEY talk to him? I was too busy talking to another Vocation meister to unlock one of the new ones... So, I'm just screwed then? Asinine design. It should be available for sale from them if it wasn't handed out as a reward automatically. Pisses me off.

The skill isn’t worth using from the animation preview it showed imo

Hopefully there’s NG+ to get whatever stuff you miss the first time

Doesn't matter. It makes no sense to have no indication that it's available to receive. At worst, I should have been allowed to receive it after talking to him AGES later when I finally completed Readvent of Calamity. Stupid that it isn't.

It's the big combo string attack right? I got the letter for it for delivering him a letter in a quest from the oxcart guy in the main city of vermund. Nothing to do with any fight.

There is still a way to get it but you may have to wait a bit. When you carry over to a newgame+ the quests will reset and you can get another try. Though maybe they will patch a way to get it later on too.

This game, and also the first game, were designed like the good ol' days, pre "Ubisoft hand holding for the busy weekend warrior dads."

I'm sure it has NG+ though. Completing DD1 100% without a guide on a single first playthrough was quite the feat, but even in this one it really looks like they catered to players like you a lot more.

I played the first one. A lot. Back on PS3. I never lost out on final unlocks for vocations. This is unreasonably stupid. So, screw you, first and foremost. "players like you". OKAY. If it's awful design, it's awful design. There's a big difference between something being made unavailable because someone who was supposed to be kept alive was not, and being denied a reward because "I didn't instantly speak to someone after going through a huge battle and getting stuck in a bunch of cascading events". Honestly, that's utterly ridiculous.

I did not talk to him immediately either. I was able to find him in Melve later and gave him a random gift. After that the conversation triggered to get scroll. Seems you have to raise his affinity and it'll trigger it.

And there's no warning at all that the quest gonna fail.
For the vocation skill you're safe, you can still get it by giving gift to Lennart (He like expensive item, ferrystone, etc)
I'm still pissed that the quest got cut off by not talking to Lennart after fighting the dragon.
No hint at all.

I'll head back there I guess... the mage meister won't trigger her quest either. Really pissing me off cuz I hate wasting time traveling for no reason.

Did you get Fighter to max level and for mage did the grandma die? I had to reach max level on fighter to get the scroll and for the mage one, after giving all the books, because the grandma died the story would not progress until after I visited the morgue and revived her.

I failed the quest despite fighting the dragon because all the NPCs would not progress dialogue and just kept looping their thanks for the assistance.
It's not players being the problem, it's spaghetti code held together with bailing wire and duct tape.

Just give him an expensive item and he will give you the scroll for the skill. I gave him a ferry stone and he gave me the scroll.

Inconsequential. Friend of mine didn't have fighter leveled at all and got it. And got the mage one no problem.

Ok, then you can try giving the Fighter master an Onyx to boost affinity since some people say it's affinity based. Supposedly since Onyx is considered expensive and rare in Vermund it should work, some people also said give him the Bunch of Flowers items once per day for three days or so, since the gifting boost only work once per day regardless of item.

As for the Mage master skill, what step are you at currently? Did you give her all the books and it's saying to wait a couple days?

I'll try that with the Lennart then. As for the mage... She didn't even kick off the quest. Grandma leaves, and she says nothing but "ThEy WoN't LeT mE lEaRn MaGiC!" Started grating my nerves so I left because I don't have patience for broken quest triggers.
