Lost my nearly 10 hours of save game
I figured camping would count as last inn rested at save since why would I use the inn if camping is free but nope. Then I clicked exit without saving only for it to save anyways erasing everything right as I was starting to have fun.
Tip for having fun, don't play archer. Stick your pawn on it and forget it but then again it might just be me.

Why would you think a camp fire is a Inn?

Your post makes no sense, you thought you saved. Then exited without saving, but it saved anyway?

How does that equal losing progress.

I lost some saves on the first one and learned my lesson.

Also, I think melee is the way to go in this game. The melee stuff is the unique part of this game. You can, and should, use multiple vocations though.

melee is fun against the lil mobs but against big bois you are basically playing ragdoll simulator if you don't get out of it's way fast

So I already had saves up to that point, I used the manual save a lot since I'm no stranger to the now series but usually when you load a save it doesn't over right the other save. The inn save and last save usually count as two saves independent of each other so with that logic I checked the inn save to see if camping counted for it. If I recall resting at benches on bitter black isle counted for the secondary save which was what I was going into this expecting. So once I loaded the inn save I was at the start of the game but assuming exit without saving worked I would be able to load the proper one again.

Then the most recent save option takes me back to the inn at the start of the game and I find out it autosaved over immediately as soon as I loaded for whatever reason.
Did that clarify it?

I don't know if you've played genshin impact but it feels like the archer characters in that, just the worst

the Inn is the manual save. it can't be overwritten by autosaves and its under your control. By your own admission you literally weren't using the manual save at all. You were manually triggering an autosave calling it a manual save... lol

the big tell for me that they were different, the campfire and the inn, (besides the game literally telling you very specifically in the tutorial) was that when you rest at camp it doesn't check your pawn rental.

I love archer! It's fun for me because of it's mobility and ailment pots

Yeah, I wish Campfires were considered 'Inn' saves but nope, when it says Inn it really means Inn.

Take it as an important Lesson OP and keep moving.

+ It's not wasted time if you think about it, you now have the knowledge of those last 10 hours and can speedrun it.

archer seems fun once you get into making all the special arrows tbh, Like a poor mans wizard that can fire spells much faster

WHY would you choose to exit without saving?
dbonzai Mar 23, 2024 @ 12:06pm
I can see what you did and I can see myself doing that same thing without knowing the nuances of how this works.

Why would loading into the inn save overwrite the ongoing save? It is not a very well designed system and many people are having issues like this losing lots of progress.

Save scumming can take away from the adventure but so can crap like this where you lose your progress by selecting one of the two options when presented not realizing it will permanently cut you off from the other save.

Thank you for sharing and I will definitely beware.
