Unfortunate what happened.
Sounds like you need to delete your save file and start over..
I hadn't activated the portcrystal at that point sadly.
There is an option to disable the interact button dash. Wish I'd known that sooner too.
I ended up having to do that, lost about 4 hours of progress. Woo.
Morale of the story here is use the Inn, exploration is dangerous more due the games design rather than any enemy.

I'm willing to bet that there will be a fix to this in the future.
1. No reloading previous saves
2. No restarting from a campsite
3. Clearly there's a problem here if the player cant fast travel yet
4. If all else fails, let the player suicide with a stuck button? Come on man... it's bizarre.

Yep. When this happened to me I aggressively hit my head repeatedly against the wall, jumped and run and dashed and eventually kinda glitched my way back.
I was following the coastline south from the dragonforged shop. So yeah, for now just stay away from the edge when engaging, I suppose.
