What is the deal with the rift crystal?
Can they be gained in the game and pretty much that and are they not a form of pay to win right?

RC are used to hire pawns.
Better pawn; Win Game Easier.
More RC -> Easier Game == More real money -> more RC -> more win
pay to win

They are gained in game by having your pawn hired, killing enemies and completing missions.

Yes. they're earnable in game.

And nothing in a single-player game is "pay to win". You're not in competition with any other players.

(currently I've got a few hundred RC from the first few hours & my pawn getting used by other players.)

And finding abandoned riftstones.

A well designed well made pawn will earn you far more rift crystals then you can buy with the DLCs

Rift Crystals have three ways of being obtained in game:
1) Having your pawn hired by someone else - note this can, and will, happen even when you aren't actively playing
2) Finding and activating "lost rift stones" on the map
3) Random drop from enemy kills, amount dropped scales with level (if it follows as DD1)

I kinda plan to cheat engine them but I kinda wanted to know if that is not a problem

they can be gained in multiple ways, the most productive is by getting your pawn hired by other players. Doing certain quest also grant a small amount of RC. Nothing is pay to win. RC is only to be use to hire higher level pawn and cosmetics as of now(I am not that far yet in the game)

using higher level pawns penalties your experience gain rate. making leveling and grinding much more of a chore.

So no its not pay to win, its pay to not play the actual game

You're missing the point that developers control the knobs that determine how hard and grindy it is to do something in your singleplayer game and they WILL tune the knobs to maximize profit and push as much people as possible to buy the "skip" offered by MTX.

Is it that hard to understand how it works or is it too abstract to consider?

Wow you're stupid lmao. You gain RC way faster by playing than buying

The best pawns are shared between people in "swap threads" and discord Reddit threads.

Pawns from friends are free, so you can rent a level 200 pawn for nothing this way.

Not pay to win.

Unless you consider ruining your own single player game by hiring overleveled pawns that solo the whole game for you pay to win, due to paying for it with RC you paid for with real money. In other words: if you're insane?

Then yeah you could technically pay to win I guess? :mhwhappy:

Seriously though, RC is gained by other people using your pawn, which at this point in the game happens all the time. There are probably some ways to farm in by doing other things later down the line too, like it was if the first game, but you should get WAY more than enough simply from people using your pawn.

You can hire a friend's pawn for free regardless of level gap. Just befriend a few high level people and there you go, completely invalidates any power you'd gain from rift crystals.

This has got to be one of the worst takes I have ever heard in my life, fym a single player game can't be pay to win?? You CAN win the game, you CAN pay to make everything about it faster and easier, ergo they most certainly can be pay to win.
Kaynos Mar 22, 2024 @ 12:27pm
If it's like in the first game, you acquire them naturally playing the game. They are used to hire pawn. Pawn the same level as you are always free.

They are very much like pay to win, but you don't have to do it through MTX. Just make some friends who play and have them continuously rent your pawn. You get rift crystal in exchange.
