PSA: Do not take Gregor and his party to the Waterfall Cave during the Dragon's Wake quest [Stupid AI]
I thought it would be a good idea to explore a dungeon with four extra NPCs in my party.

It all seemed to go well enough until I got to a room with two lizardmen and a slime in a river. After defeating the monsters, Gregor simply WALKED TO HIS DEATH to the bottom of the river and got taken by the Brine. The Dragon's Wake quest was then completed immediately.

Now, the other NPCs from Gregor's party won't even follow me. They're just standing there looking at where Gregor killed himself. And if I load my last save at an inn, I'll lose about 3 hours of gameplay. This game really doesn't respect the player's time at all.

I don't think its about respect of players time. I think they respect a good adventure. Whats an adventure without any consequences?

In my game they just vanished from the world after I used the campfire nearby. I ended up just going to the capital without them still no idea if they're even alive.

I took them into the cave also. All his team died before I decided to leave he was alive and walking out just fine then just killed over dead. I thought about going to get a wakestone to try and rez him but meh...

Lol I also had the same idea and took Gregor to the cave, then I remember the first game where NPC can actually die and cut off your quest chain and noped out of it.

For anyone else who had Gregor disappear (but not die), if you backtrack towards the gate earlier on your path, his party will probably respawn there.

I wouldn't call it not respecting players' time. It's more like a deliberate old-schooled rpg design where every damn thing has consequences. Think Morrowind.

You don’t have to reset. You can go around the long way to the capital via waterfall exit NE and finish the quest line. The large gate will open after…

Suffering the consequences of your actions ... which are impossible for any developer to predict ... equals a lack of respect now.

You can get Gregor in the cave? Is this if you take the Oxen? I just said no and walked with my party. It was an adventure when I realized that I had no clue where I was going.

No Gregor will accompany you for a while before you get to the oxcart. There's a cave on the route before that called the Waterfall cave. It's an exceptionally dangerous cave for new players lol. You can get him killed in there.

Must have missed that cave and went to a different one a little further down the path. It had lizardmen in the first part. Then it goes outside with a few more lizardmen and a river between the 2 caves. Enter the next cave and you fight a troll that was a long hard fight that I probably should've lost. Then bandits in the rest of the cave.

Once you get to Vernworth find the morgue. Dead NPCs show up there and u can revive them with wakestones.

Is there to a point to ressurect him in Vernorth? The dragon quest completed as soon as he died?
