We were playing in much lower resolution back then, and no one - NO ONE - was gaming at high FPS, as the hardware for such things had not been invented.
Talk to anyone who played Operation Flashpoint when it launched...
you'll be fine and live.
What? That game ran fine on my p3 with 60 fps on my 3dfx voodoo 3000...
And yes, it was 60 FPS. Infact, CRT monitors where usually 60-85 FPS by default...
It is smooth enough. Id pref at least like 72 fps or above. That 10-12 fps makes a huge dif.
Also with gsyc 60 does feel fairly smooth compared to non gsync.
Also most new games if you play on max settings youre not going to get a like 120 fps (most new good lookin games).
With parts getting better, it means games look better meaning your fps games from generation to generation wont be all that much better.
Tech that adds dlss and frame gen are what is going to make games run smoother.
Since I started playing pc games, (gtx 500 series era+) Games have always ran about the same on the high end cards. 60 to 100 fps... its not really changed from that lol till recently with dlss and or frame gen or both
I presume you weren't playing on PC in the 90s. Doom was running at 35 fps and when Quake and Quake 2 or other impressive games were released people often weren't even getting 30fps and were still happy to play.
I mean obviously not everything was, but something like Baldur's Gate 1 came out in 98 and that has...aged visually in my humble opinion.
Same for crossfire
I have 90fps with 4K resolution, Raytracing and max settings on a 3080TI sooo....game smooth as butter. Obviously I'd have more at a lower resolution or lower settings. Is everyone trying to play it maxed out too?
