What are the exclamation points that show up on the minimap?

Are they just points of interest that your Pawns point out? I see them pop up but they don't show up on the actual map so I can't check what they are

They are points of interest your pawn points out. For me it was usually a ladder you can climb etc.
For some reason, they don't fade off the minimap even if you go there and do it.
I found other icons in the world I have no idea what they mean. One looks like a crystal shard or its signaling an ore vein but theres nothing around.
The game doesn't explain the minimap icons and these icons DON'T show up when you open the main map.
Very weird design. Might need a patch to address.

I believe they are Points of Interest that your Pawns remark. Could be a ladder, treasure or something? Something that they point out

This is most likely the case and indeed, heck, if there was a second POI within the starter encampment (that wasn't a ladder), it would get the message across more clearly.

Things your AI notices, mostly ladders as chests are marked as chests. I think if they know what it is though they will mark it better like the hidden collectibles. Change your extra pawns often they will lead you to all kinds of wonderful trash.

It's just difficult to see often times. I've found most of them after searching up high
