Why the ♥♥♥♥ would you ask when you can read the reviews yourself?
They're triggered that there's microtransactions to get the pre-order bonuses, and $0.99 for 5 seconds worth of rift crystals.
They're also big mad that, despite having SO MANY DAYS with the character editor before the game came out, and they managed to donk their save up so badly that they need to start a new game, but they can't because the option does not exist.
I can kind of understand that aspect, but seriously,, how you going to irreparably destroy your save within 5 seconds of getting your hands on the game?
Other than that, it's just herd mentality hate, lots of people are triggered by the price tag too.
The first Dragon's Dogma cost $120USD before taxes because they made the game first, then when Dark Arisen came out, you had to re-purchase the entire game to get it since it was only available on a disk.
The price is asking a lot, but that's just the reality of the gaming world we live in modernly, and MTX are a given in almost every game. Be thankful we don't have to sit through adds to get 10 rift crystals or something.
Nobody complaining about this game has any clue what the first game was like, and it all could have been easily avoided with a pinch of awareness... outside of the whole 'no new game' option thing....
But- even then, there are NPCs in the game that let you redo your character, they're just too triggered and full of RRREEEEE's that they can't play enough to get there, which isn't that hard by the way.
It's a self report that they couldn't have been satisfied with this game no matter what it was because they went in completely unprepared and just went with the herd when it comes to dunking on the game, and although the solutions are all there before them, they are blinded by their rage, and cannot be bothered to help themselves.
Yeah, they made a character creator separately from this game DAYS and DAYS before the game came out, you could create and experiment for ages.
Also, you can just fluidly change your class any time you want really, that's something you'd know if you'd ever played the first one.
Fairly common thing to happen, itl be mostly positive by the end of the weekend lol.
Must be why the popular games that are actually good tend to have actual high ratings...
And then there's me, stuck at work. The game came out about 2 hours into my shift, and I've been sneaking bits and pieces on my Steam Deck, I wanted to save the experience for my main rig when I get home and figured I'd check out the discussions page.
No, that's from people who blindly rushed in without utilizing the character creator and got ugly characters only to find out that there's no option to start over.
Sure, they could just go to the NPC that allows you to remake your character, but why would they bother doing that when they can get triggered instead.
Company chooses to make a full priced $70 single player game and then figures they could easily gouge more out of impatient gamers with low dollar value micro transactions.
Just so happens the consumers are sick and tired of these tactics...
Consumers react.
This is called cause and effect.
Hopefully these game companies are paying attention...we as gamers have quite frankly had enough.
