For me, too. It won't load and nothing happens. It says launching and running 100%, but then went back to click play. I do not know what it is going on. I got rtx 3080, too.

Same issue for me. RTX 4090, drivers up to date. I hit "Play", its switches to "Running" briefly, then it goes back to "Play". It never starts. I tried rebooting as well. Ugh.

CPU: Intel Core i5 12600K
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070
RAM: 32 GB
Drivers are all up to date
No space issues

I also had the same problem with it not running.
When I deleted the Crashreprot.exe file in the local folder, the game ran.

So basically, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2
and just delete CrashReport.exe.

Then just try to launching a game. It might or not give you borderless or full screen resolution. It will say compling shaders. Just wait few mins and be patient. Give a 5 to 10 mins minimum or more.

Finally the screen you can adjust settings. Good Luck!!!

Worked here.

I’ve been messing around with settings trying to see if turning something off or on fixed it crashing on launch and I might have found a temporary solution as I’ve not experienced a crash since doing it.

I’m not sure about how you do it for Nvidia but turn off rebar. For AMD go to performance then tuning then turn off “Resizable Bar”

Sadly didn't work, get a black screen then it just closes and I can press play again and that just repeats

Okay so I have tried just about everything in every damn thread and I finally got something that works.

I have been crashing immediately at startup before the shaders or menu or everything so if that's happening to you, try this

Fully uninstall any DLC unlocker program you might have, For me it was koalageddon and I needed to fresh reinstall steam afterwords as well. After a restart and reinstall of steam my game is working.

(Honestly I forgot I even had a DLC unlocker.

No luck with this one, neither did running the game or Steam in administrator mode.
This has been my most anticipated game for years and years, sad to see the lack of care Capcom gave it. Will be a hard refund.

I don't think people with the persistent crash on startup is to do with the CrashReport.exe, I think that crashes for a different reason (I think a potential .NET bug). I think the main DD2.exe crashes for another reason something like ngx, but hard to pin down.

You could try one of the below basics:

1. Update video drivers / do a clean reinstall
2. Download and install this as admin and it will install / repair whatever might be missing / wrong
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/

3. Try going into the game folder and directly starting the game through the .exe file and not via a shortcut on desktop or through steam.

4. Make sure you arent using any additional overlay apps like msi afterburner / rtss (they can cause issues ) and if you use the new nvidia app beta, make sure you dont have any global filters like RTX hdr or RTX vibrance enabled.
