Games are not worth $100
I'm not buying.

It's not because I cannot afford to buy a game for $100, it's because I should not have to buy a game for $100.

If you greedy devs want to start charging insane prices for something that is a hobby and not a life essential item, then I will start purchasing games based on whether I can get an Hour per Canadian dollar I spend on the game, because I know you pricks love that. I highly doubt I am going to get over 100 hours out of this game, so it looks like I am never playing it. Cheers!

Gaming is a luxury so luxury prices are to be expected. I'd rather have expensive AAA games and affordable housing and healthcare than cheap games and unobtainable needs.

You realize that cheap games were one of the reasons why people kept saying PC is the better system, right?

You buy games digitally, there are no shipping costs, so why are games on PC the exact same price as retail console games that DO have shipping costs?

Shipping costs are pennys and besides you pay the shipping costs. Not the developer. Development costs of these games are millions. Your paying enough so the developers can actually make a small profit.

you are a clown. Capcom's profit margins are 35%, they make about 10 billions in profit per year

I'm not entirely convinced you know how inflation works... or how currency works for that matter. Go somewhere else to farm your Jesters, champ.
You sure don't if you don't understand that prices of things rise in cost. Game are not going to cost the same as they did in 1990. It cost much more money to make them. Your whole thing is I want them to cost the same. What costs the same exactly.

The only thing i can say is that I would be VERY wary of graymarket game sites that get their keys from steam. Theres been a scam going around where devs pump out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ games, then change the entire storefront and title and all that to look nearly identical to popular just released games, then they sell in mass to greymarket sites. Even when all that gets nuked by steam, the keys will still read like theyre those popular games, even after you install them, but instead of Helldivers, you get some chicken run game thats barely worth a dollar.

Genuinely would suggest putting on your best jack sparrow costume rather than going gray.

You got the key? I didn't get mine yet, it's my first pre-order in there, so i don't know how really works.

I never understood this whole *100 bucks is too much money for a game* argument but if someone would like to inform I don't mind, but personally I see it as *how much money did i spend for the amount of hours i spend playing the game*.

For example, I paid 30 GBP for Baldurs Gate 3 which i now have 130 hours hours in so in reality I spent 23P(29 Cents) per hour of entertainment for this experience, so really if i spend 70 USD for this game and i end up playing it a bunch(not to mention the possibly for replay-ability). In my mind yeah the upfront cost might be quite high but the value over time for a good game is really how I personally price games. I spend more money for public transport or going to the movies or really anything else in my day to day life.

It's called inflation, go get an education so you don't look so stupid on the internet.

Not to mention development costs have sharply risen since then too.

You're the type of moron to cry and sob about game prices, and then turn around to cry and sob about microtransactions.

Your mommy and daddy may pay for your life, but game development is a job and they need to make their own money.
Well, if you had the ability to read you would have noticed the part where I mentioned "Canadian Dollars" in the OP.

But thats fine, you're probably one of the idiots too busy sucking off Trudeau to ever pay attention to how inflation affects your life and how you are not required to accept it like the sheep you are. Microtransactions are bad too, I don't know why you are presenting them as a lesser evil or something that should be acceptable.

By the way...
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/are-video-games-really-more-expensive#:~:text=For%20example%2C%20between%201993%20and,PS3%20that%20increased%20to%20%2459.99.

"For example, between 1993 and 2001 the average cost for a new console game was $49.99, but in 2005 with the release of the Xbox 360 and PS3 that increased to $59.99..."

I don't know where you ever got the idea that games cost $95 in 2005, but you are flat out wrong. Maybe get an education so you don't look so stupid on the internet.

Most N64 (1997) games, when adjusted for inflation, cost over a hundred dollars in 2024 money. Xbox 360 (2005) games cost around 95 dollars in 2024 money. For the past decade and a half, games haven't adjusted at all for inflation. A hundred dollars is a completely normal price for a video game, historically. Deal with it.

Pretty sure games for my N64 used to be $60 US. There is a thing called inflation. I will happily pay for a good product. I'll likely get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of this game.

I'll take that ROI every day.
N64 games 100% did not cost $60, because I remember buying them for $49.99 Canadian from the store for myself.

The Xbox came out, and games rose to $59.99 retail. Executives then decided that they wanted more money, so they increased the price to $69.99, and about 6 months later they increased prices again to $79.99.

Now, it is 2024, and they are trying to get everyone to sell game at $89.99 - when Capcom comes out of left field with this Singleplayer game priced at $94.99.

I am putting my foot down. I am not spending 100 dollars on a game - regardless of how good or bad it is. If you are happy about spending that much money for a game, then you are part of the problem.

Um, have you seen the cost of things? $50 for a decent meal and a few drinks. Night at the movies is easily $40.

Bought groceries recently? Cost of living gets passed on to employers. People are expensive.

I don't think you understand how economics work.

Sure, the company is greedy. It is their job to make money. This game has been in development for many years and I'd gladly pay so they can make a ♥♥♥♥ ton of money and make Dragon's Dogma 3.

Game are a form of art, and no art has any value other than what the audience places on it.

A fair price point is entirely subjective. IMO DD2 is worth 70$, meanwhile something like Iron Lung isn't even worth 6$. People love Iron Lung and would happily pay more for it to support the creator.

You do you, OP

I got it for $55 I think that is reasonable.

You paid $100? I didn't even see this game charging that much.
