noooooooooooooo but yesish

its big monsters you fight but i think its hard to compare to monster hunter.

at best you can compare the monster fights to something more like the witcher but even then this is still far different from even that

Yes it is like A monster hunter as you hunt monsters, but yes/no it is not like monster hunter.

More like Skyrim and Shadow of Colossus.
I remember preordering the first one on the Ps3 years ago just because it was so similiar to Monster Hunter as far as gameplay. There is a part break system, you can climb on them and stab individual parts like in monster hunter. Upgrade your gear, fight bigger creatures, progress, very similiar to Monster Hunter but there is a whole party system so you will have 3 ai companions helping you out. I saw a video of someone saying it's like Skyrim and Monster Hunter had a child.

In MHW you use clutch claw or a jumping attack to grab onto specific points of a bosses back. In this game you can pretty much climb every surface on a monster. In MHW you have traditional combo based combat, with an emphasis of dodge roll and lots of sheathing. In DD2 you have string-based combos from 4-5 different abilities you've chosen. Both games have funny physics, but DD2 leans more heavily into this. MHW is gear + weapon defines your build, while DD2 is gear + vocation (no that much different actually). Both games require preparation of supplies.

Other than that, you're not tracking monsters, there isn't as big of an emphasis on ecology and hand-crafted areas design to be replayed in, or instances.

Realistically the games are different enough that you can't really compare, but similar enough that if the main reason you like MHW is just ARPG combat, you'll probably enjoy DD2? But if you like the other factors, like difficulty, tracking, etc. then you may not like DD2, or at the very least it's not like MHW enough for you.

Bad comparisons as well. Probably worse than MH.

I really don't understand the comparisons to Skyrim. If anything it's more like Morrowind, but only in quest design. The actual game is not similar in anyway to any Bethesda game.

OP the game is its own thing. If you want to figure out what that is, go play DDDA. There is no game that's exactly like DD, it's just too different from anything I've played, even MH or FromSoftware games or Nioh or DMC or Bayonetta or Granblue or any other ARPG. It plays specifically like DD, and has systems specific to DD.
