I feel like the only person who actually played Dragons Dogma 1

Especially before Dark Arisen Dragons Dogma is AA (at best) trash.

It's like everyone who learned about Monster Hunter when World came out also heard from their friends that Dragons Dogma was this mega underrated cult classic or something.

People are treating Dragons Dogma 2 like it's the Witcher 4 or something.

I can't understand this.

Unless the people making DD2 are completely different from the people who made DD1 I'm fully expecting this game to be a barely playable mess.

I feel like there is zero chance most players will be kind to this game given the way gamers generally responded to every little issue in Starfield. The hype is definitely carrying the day at the moment.

I'll be getting DD2 because I enjoyed the first game, but one really needed to be willing to ignore its many flaws to do so. And I don't think it's crazy to suggest that people have an even stronger sense of entitlement now than they did back then. This forum will not be a pretty place post-launch.

Yeah i honestly dont get the hype for this game...like at all. From my understanding, and reading some reviews of the original, it was a very very niche game beloved by a very very niche audience. The game had tons of problems with QOL, awful interface, and tons of AI bugs relating to your companions etc. The only reason it had positive reviews on steam was, again, because it did what it did very well to fill that niche role. But as a mainstream RPG, i have serious doubts it will hold up to scrutiny. People at this stage are just to starved for good, solid RPGs that anything new and shiny will get massive hype.

Dark Arisen is an all time favorite of mine. I'm playing it right now, I'll be playing it while the dust settles on 2, and then get it when they remove Denuvo if it doesn't seem like too much of a regression on things I liked about 1.

If you didn't like DD:DA then good luck with the new game I guess, hard to see how it revolutionizes the formula from where I'm sitting.

i finished DD1 yesterday for the first time and its... yeah crap. annoying KI, annoying escort missions, annoying everything. Boring story, boring enemy designs and variations.

I agree. i played dark arisen for about six hours after getting it on sale for $5. It's not even worth $5. I'm not expecting a ton from DD2 but, it would be nice to be surprised. Definitely my type of game, but if its just a newer version of the first game it's a hard pass. Not sure why anyone likes DDDA, it was almost as bad as two worlds

Well the first title definitely wasn't 'best seller' but I wouldn't call it trash either. When we look at Monster Hunter and how it went from Generations Ultimate to World, it was a pretty big change. Fluid big monster movement and a singular map without load screens being some mentions.

That big change in design could be a reason for the hype/expectations of DD2. You can also look at the sales from the previous monster hunter titles and world. If I remember correctly, Monster Hunter wasn't really all that popular in the early days of release in the west.

I liked DD. Didn't really care for any of the witcher games myself. Tried them. Couldn't get into them.

But DD was super fun. So yeah. Im excited for 2. As for the witcher 4 I won't be getting that. Meh.
