Character Editor
I find it particularly easy to achieve fairly nice characters with fairly realistic features with this editor.
Perfect? no. I wish there were a couple more sliders to fine tune even more.
But, all in all it is fairly decent.

Also, I left the performance data in the upper left corner of the shot to show that it seems ok. Taking in consideration the screen resolution and the apparent high graphic setting, (you don't have the possibility to change them that I could find) and the absence of upscaling, looks promising for the actual game.

You can try out first dogma, to see how big of a step (its actually more like a leap) they ve made

Yeah the character creator is pretty good in general despite some pretty glaring issues.
However, the fact that there's only a few heads that aren't distractingly ugly with no possibility to fix them with sliders means 90% of pawns are going to look the same. Most people prefer to make attractive characters after all.

No matter what I do, my CJ either looks too young or too old

Already got over 1000 hours in it. I did not think the original editor was bad. Could still do some decent chars. Not forgetting that the original is getting somewhat old even if still good.

They can be modified by a fair amount of degree but I agree that there is a good chance for repeats. Especially that not all players will put a huge amount of time in editing.

Well, then you know, that there is no fixing ugly presets there.
Just like with voice actors, number to of good looking presets are dismal, about 2-3 per gender

Real CJ got noticable laugh lines, there is no middle ground on wrinkles slider satisfying enough

Was still able to create decent looking chars back then, That satisfied me at least.

Male chars for pawns might show more varied imo:
