mace vs sword for warrior in dragon's dogma 2
Is there a difference between two handed greatmace and greatsword in DD2? Like, does mace cause more knockdowns if head is hit comparing to GS which may do more damage? I love that huge mace in some images.

It's probably just cosmetic preference, but I imagine there could a select few skills that only work with one type of weapon, but that's just a guess. For instance the Fighter can also have mace or sword, and has a gouge skill, and I doubt the mace would work for that skill... but it might and just look weird.

In the first Dragons Dogma game I believe the mace was simply better, both in one handed and 2 handed variants

But seriously maces had higher base damage and were more effective against the undead and armour and stuff, but I think if you wanted to cut off tails and whatnot you had to use a bladed weapon.

For warrior it's warhammers, not maces.

Fighter is the one who can use a mace. Maces were unique to Mystic Knight in part 1. Now Fighter can also use maces as well as the usual sword. The good news the mace has it's own moveset and is not cheaply re-using sword movesets.

The same can't be said for Warrior's warhammer which is just the same moveset as greatwords with the only difference is it does Blunt damage as opposed to Slash damage. Blunt damage more effective on skeletons/bony enemies. The wiki doesn't really describe Blunt damage well. Imo there's no real difference between the two and a big waste of resources, not enough difference you'll be carrying both types in case you come across skeletons or not.

They are type of warhammers... it's samey, don't think there will be much difference using this big mace over a warhammer, basicaly the same think, different look.

If true then it would be ideal. Especially if they don't plan on huge number of weapons like in ER.
